Harry Potter Books is a forum for just that. The books. General Discussion is far more broad in the way of topics.

Nah.
I quote the little summary thing of General discussion

This is where all users can talk about anything...HP related or no, thus General Discussion.
Harry Potter books is talking about canon only (and the movies too, me thinks)
Fanfic Discussion : Fanon

I changed the descriptor to make it alittle more clearer.

General Discussion:Anything HP and some OT stuff. Anything horribly pointless usually gets shipped to Life outside HP. I don't see any use for that forum, other then where I stick stuff that's not bad enough to delete, but I want it out of my site, heh

Harry Potter Books: Canon Only Books/Movies

Fanfic Discussion: Fanon, help with fics, beta searching
