One I just heard, An army Barracks in Surrey(*cough*) is being privately investigated for prisoner abuse, both mental and psyichal(bad, bad typo.. ).

I'm not sure if we're thinking of the same thing, Xiph, but this isn't a new story. In fact it dates back as far as 1995. It isn't prisoner abuse that is being investigated but rather four counts of suspected murder (that the MOD said was suicide) and some other things that I've listed below;

recruits made to stand outside in their boxer shorts while an Non Commissioned Officer threw darts at them

a trainee forced to swim in a cesspool

a recruit assaulted by a gang wearing respirator masks

an alleged rape - reported but ignored

a trainee urinated on by an NCO while asleep : incident reported but no action taken

one soldier struck with a locker door and hung by the ankles out of a window 40 feet off the ground

I've done some searching around to see if I can find anything that looks similar to what your saying and this is the only story I can find about a barracks in Surrey. I think perhaps this one is worse though.
