As many of you may know, I have net to no respect for my schools Principal. I have been of the belief that he is ridiculously incompetant and has no business being in charge of a classroom of children, much less an entire school of them.
However that opinion got weakened a bit just now... I was talking with a friend of mine about the man today, and she said to me "You know at lunch on Friday, he was actually ok."
Naturally I was skeptical of this. I rarely had any reason to think of the man as anything other than an idiotic wanker who I had to tolerate... But then my friend went on to describe what happened.
Apparently, on Friday one of the people sitting with them decided to start making fun of JP, one of the few openly (and rather flamboyantly) gay students in the school. One of the girls at the table then took it upon herself to slap the asshole in the face... HARD.
All the while our Principal was only 5 feet away. The kid who got slapped (and who had a HUGE fast bruising) handprint on his face turned and complained. Instead of disciplining the girl who hit the asshole, my Principal suspended the kid who got slapped for being a hateful little jackass.
Don't get me wrong... I still think that the man is incompetant and has no business being in charge of a school. But now at least I know that he is a fundamentally decent human being. Just thought I would share this with the forum; because even though we are not SUPPOSED to use this as a blogging space, I think that the world could use more people with that kind of attitude, and I was wondering what your thoughts on it were.
