    EDIT 22/12/16:

For a more up to date guide on how to use DLP's IRC, go here.
    - Palindrome

There are a fuckton of IRC Clients. DLP's (Unofficial) Client of Choice is the No Name Script add on and mIRC. Most of the information is the same across all clients, commands may be different, though. These assume you use the above.

First, you need to grab mirc 6.24 and NoNameScript. 6.21/6.34 Are recommended for mIRC. NNS 4.1 for 6.21, and the newest version requires 6.34. Install both like you are not a retarded monkey jabbing randomly at the computer screen with a pointed stick. Launch NNS with the Launch NNS shortcut.

Once you do, you get a pop up with another fuckton of settings to configure for NNS. Play with these as you please. Its recommended you use a theme, since default mIRC is, according to Mknote, as ugly as his mother's vagina. Don't scar your eyes.

There are two sections you need to hold off on editing for now, the Nickserv section and the favorite networks. These require some configuring of mIRC. So lets get right into those.

Alt+O (Letter, not number) brings up your options. In the connection tap, you need set up that first page with whatever. Example:

Second, you want to hit the add button under the server section just beneath connection:

Then you want to fill out the information in this screenshot:

Description is going to be the name (Random DE Server in the above screen.) under the folder. Server will be the server address. Port is port, and Group is the folder itself. Ignore Password. My Personal Setup:

    Description: Darklordpotter IRC
    Server: irc.darklordpotter.net
    Port: 6667
    Group: DLPIRC

    Description: Darklordpotter IRC w/SSL
    Server: irc.darklordpotter.net
    Port: 6697
    Group: DLPIRC

[Note: OpenSSL is required for the second set.[/url]

Now to Favorite networks! Open your NNS drop down and open up your settings. Select Favorite. On the left is a list of all of your networks. Select DLPIRC (if thats what you used.) and hit the button to move it to the right. Beneath will be a set of other settings.

Prefered server is going to be the server its gonna connect to. Meaning if you want to connect to SSL, select that set up if you added both. From there, you can configure the same settings from the above mIRC configs for simplicity's sake. On the right, tick the boxes dor Auto-connect (and use SSL if you want it).

Under the Auth sections, you want to select Nickserv, network will again be DLP, nick will be your name, and password will be your password. Note that you must register these on the server before it will do anything at all.

Once you've connected to the server after settings this, you want to register your nick, obviously. Do this with the command:

    /msg nickserv register <password> <emailaddress>

If you are using a client that does not support auto-identification, the command to 'login" is:

    /msg nickserv identify <password>

Now, you can set channels to join one of two ways:

With clients that support it (mIRC, etc.) you can set this within the client. For mIRC, you want to set this within the Favorites menu. Or, for the sake of ease, you can now use:

    /msg nickserv ajoin add <#channel>

Example: /msg nickserv ajoin add #darklordpotter

Once a channel is set to the ajoin list, it will autojoin once you've been identified (logged in).

Joining is just as simple. /join <#channel>

#darklordpotter is the main channel for all DLP. #thestudy is (rarely used anymore) is for helping out with authors in a real time chat environment. Unless specifically given other channels in existance, don't go in without permission.

Otherwise, have fun. Don't be retarded. Don't be fangirls. And Spacks doesn't come on anymore, so no. No one wants to cyber with you. (Except Glernaj. And probably Mknote, as much as he denies it. Tinn has yet to comment on him though so we don't know.

EDIT: It seems the official site is gone. I'd recommend using Oldversion to grab whatever mIRC you need and 4.22 or 4.21 download links.
