Here's a story I came across yesterday. There are places where the story and the writing are absolutely library worthy, but they're not consistent, which makes me rate it a three for now.

Pluses: it's a unique story, avoiding a number of HP cliches while tackling some common literary topics (middle-aged doubts, normal relationship problems—not angsty, but realistic, etc.). The technical aspects of writing are pretty good, although the author does slip out of POV once or twice in tags. The Prologue sets up the story very well, and is quick enough that you soon get to Harry and Ginny.

Why not up for Review: As I said before, the writing is somewhat uneven. One example: some scenes drive the plot forward with little to no wasted words (prologue, for instance). In others, I found my self wondering why the scene was relevant, and wish the author would get on with the plot (which doesn't really take off until about the third or fourth chapter). Also, the chapters are a tad short: 17000 words and five chapters.

Nevertheless, it's definitely worth a read, and from the review I left, the author seems very open to constructive criticism.

Sounds a lot like the death arch trilogy, though with a different timeline.

I like it so far. Decent writing, good characterization of Ginny, a well built mystery and excellent pacing. The writing is a bit spotty in parts, a few problems with tenses and a couple of spelling errors here and there. I can't fault the pacing though -- every chapter moves the plot forward, and that is the most important thing.

    Good story. I recommend it.
