There's this thing about gods, you see.

They need worship. They need to be acknowledged. They live, and die, based on the reverence and attention of us mortals. But our attention is so very limited. Our reverence so very shallow.

There is not room, in the end, for all that many Gods, in America.

The Old Gods came over on the wooden ships, or they were here long before, dressed in hide-skins and smelling like incense and smoke. They are still here, of course. They do not wish to be forgotten.

The New Gods are not so visible, and smaller in number, but vastly more powerful. The faceless skyscraper of finance and commerce, the thing you silently and unknowingly pray to when you hope that the machine will take your credit card. The trillions of bits of data and untold miles of wires spanning the globe, a vast, unknowable creature of Internet and Data - why, we worship it daily. By the minute. By the second.

This kind of country, this kind of life... well, it was always going to come to this. Bloodshed and battle.

    Because it always does.

In a battle for the soul of the world, new gods and old gods alike will be tested. They will be tried. And in the end, one group will fade from memory and the world, and be utterly, inexorably...

    ...forgotten.

American Gods Mafia is a Closed setup game hosted by me, Newcomb, with the setup itself being designed by myself and Eido.

Compared to Eido's standard Mini Mafia setups, it will be slightly more complex, but balanced.

12 players needed to start, but, the more the merrier. The setup is flexible up to any number (within reason) of players.

If anyone wants to volunteer for /replace, awesome. Otherwise, I'll RNG a few people as replacements before the game starts.

Day/Night phase length will depend on player size, but will be no shorter than 72 hour Days, 24 hour Nights.

This one's gonna be fun. I promise.

I'll leave the signups open for a goodly length to see if we can eke out 15+ players, which would be great.

I may be a half troll D1, you have all been warned. I don't think my heart can take planning to live to D2 and then not doing so again.

I'm messing with Snowvon. I'm going to leave him at #1 and then gradually move him down as the signups go on.

    I mean maybe now I won't, but.

Real talk though. I'm hoping I roll town because I'll finally have a chance to read everyone correctly now that Newcomb isn't in the game!

Okay, Citrus, since fontisian is playing it looks like you'll get to outlive her.

Because if I roll town and she calls me scum one time, I am going to throw it down.

Aww man, I love american gods but I've never played a mafia game before. I've read them so I've got a rough idea but I think I'd be really shit. If you're going for a large game I'd be happy to be in.

But on the other hand, if a newb would be all tedious and a bit out of their depth with this one then that's fine too.

I made like literally this exact same post before my first game, Narutomafia. Had a lot of fun in that game!

It really comes down to, like, are you willing to be invested in the game, committed, etc.?

Picture yourself reading the game thread, and there are posts you don't understand, and then another thing happens - do you feel like "eh, this seems weird." Or do you feel that you want to delve in and try to grab on to it?

I think DLP's a pretty good "getting your feet wet with Mafia" forum for your first game, but like, I've only played 5 games myself, so... hardly an expert here.

Basically, we'd love to have you. But you also have to want to play with a level of emotion beyond "vague curiosity", IMO.

May be slightly busy during parts of D1 - still adapting to my new class schedule, depending on when this starts.
