View Full Version : KFC = Delusional, PETA = Stupid

Ok, I saw this statement made by a KFC Spokesperson after PETA complained about some of their unethical treatment of Chickens, and asked that their founders statue be moved away from the state capitol building.
"This is just another attempt by PETA to create a vegan society."
Pardon me, but as one of the members of PETA I take offense to that statement. I am in no way a Vegan, and I don't think a society would work well that way either. I do however think that if we are raising animals for slaughter that we should at least have the decency to not abuse them before killing them.
Now PETA on the other hand needs to learn to pick their fucking battles... While they fight over statues IMPORTANT shit is happening in the real world.
Why is everyone on this planet so fucking stupid?

PETA euthanizes more animals than it saves. I hardly think that they can talk.

I really don't understand the stupid shit PETA normally spews. I personally do not care if the slaughterer's are assraping the cattle before they shoot them in between the eyes with a dart, so long as the steak stays sanitary and clean.
I do however think that if we are raising animals for slaughter that we should at least have the decency to not abuse them before killing them.
Stuff like abuse of pets, folks shouldn't do I agree, but I really don't get folks bitching for extreme care for animals that are raised simply to be killed in the first place. I'd be more concered with the constant chemicals and steroids they feed the things, then whether or not KFC is ripping beaks off of birds.
On a side note, how many causes and political issues do you involve yourself in?

In response to your side note question... I lost count of that a LOOONG time ago.
The first political cause I involved myself with was the anti-death penalty one... I still remember my first protest... Perfect way to spend a day in Harrisburg.
But at that point I was still a Republican (shocking I know.) It was right before Bush Jr. got installed by the Supreme Court.
I have since shifted over into the liberal spectrum.

Why is everyone on this planet so fucking stupid?
Because they are human...even Einstein thinks so
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
I donno much about PETA or KFC conduct to say anything..
as for the death penalty...all things must come to an end...if they are gonna get life in prison then just kill them. They dont rot away in a box and you dont pay for their comfort. the family the harmed has closer as well...but to each their own on such matters.

Indeed that should be priority. But its a show of dignity( and respect/consideration to a lesser degree) as the species that conquered, and the species that will be sating its hunger as the result of its life.
If a farmer arseraped a cow, PETA would probably shoot for his being "put-down" (death penalty) and thats where I'd stop agreeing with them. A firm backhand is all that seems just in that situation.

You will still be taxed, whether or not its going to the prison system or not.

I've yet to get myself involved in these kind of things, any kind of news site that just tells you when/where? The closest I found was a green anarchist one from New England..

PETA is one of those easy target sort of groups. It's also one of those groups that the really passionate people who join/support PETA are fucking looney tunes and give the intelligent level-headed ones a bad name.
Like the PETA member/worker who officially changed his name to http://www.KentuckyFriedCruelty.com. Stupid.
But personally, I support most of what they're saying. KFC in this issue is just playing the big bad corporation and not caring at all. Factory farms and slaughterhouses are painful to watch, morally ambiguous. But if you go to the store and see one package of chicken for sale at $3 and another for $5, it doesn't matter so much to most people. You're still eating the damn things flesh for sustenance. I mean hell, the cheaper one probably wanted to die, while the one better treated probably had more to live for. Most of the time they'll taste the same. So you're paying less *and* maintaining your ignorance and distance from the animal you're eating.
I do have a few vegetarian friends. Some vegan. One of them was even a fruitatarian for while, but he was a bit of a nutcase to begin with.
I have no qualms about eating meat. But I try to appease my vegetarian friends by naming every animal I eat, and I always imagine it's screams as it died while I eat it. Seems only fair to me. (The pepperoni on my pizza tonight was Hot Teats O'Houlihan. Her moos were almost drowned out by the meat grinders in my head.)
For those who don't know and can't be bothered to look, I'll sum up the KFC vs. PETA issue: KFC treats their animals horribly. Rips off the beaks while they're young. Feeds them in truly inhumane ways. Kills them in barbaric ways, and often times they're still alive when they get their feathers and skin burned off. It's not pretty. It probably is as bad as you're imagining. It is cruel. The main complaint though is that the issue was raised to KFC, after PETA made video footage of what went on and complained about it. KFC hired some quality control people, investigated their practices to determine if it was healthy, humane, dangerous etc... These were people KFC chose to hire and appointed to certain positions. When they came back with reports on what they were doing and how to improve the situation, those reports were ignored and the people fired. PETA has asked people to boycott KFC. They're not asking for you to stop eating meat, etc... They're just asking KFC to implement the suggestions those KFC 'quality' advisors said needed to be done. These aren't demands PETA made up, it was KFC's internal investigation. And as far as I know KFC has completely ignored PETA's campaign. PETA says they'll drop the issue if KFC just implements what the professionals said to and improves. PETA offers examples of how companies like McDonald's and Burger King have been improving their quality and treatment of the meatstuffs. They're not (in this case at least) trying to get people to stop eating meat, just to treat the animals semi-decently.
Don't judge the theme of the group on the basis of the fucking loony members making headlines. And seriously, there's like a literal goldmine of activist ass to hit in groups like PETA. Chicks love it. Even some hot ones who shave their pits and everything.

It's true!
God bless Pamela Anderson for the Tommy Lee sex tape. Thanks to that mainly, she's an acceptable role model for all the sorority girls and such. The lass has done wonders for getting hot chicks into stuff like this.
It's weird how they find her so acceptable, but you can drive any female into a rage-filled fit by saying Jennifer Love Hewitt is pretty (have you seen that old Levi's commercial?).

JLH is girl next door pretty, which is still kick ass, especially when she had a little bit of fat on her face to pad out those massive cheekbones.
Pamela is more like the slut next door, or a plastic barbie doll. She's just far too plastic for me to understand why anyone finds her remotly attractive.

People are attracted to Pam Anderson for the same reason that they are attracted to Jenna Jameson.
Some people like filthy fucking sluts.

I'm a bastard about this.
I feel like animals ALWAYS are more important than people.
If we had to kill EVERY Panda Bear to cure breast cancer, I say, "How do I kill Pandas, and where do I find them?"
I have NEVER given a CENT to Animal Shelters or Anything else like that. I say PEOPLE FIRST.
I've given money for AIDS, peace, homelessness, cancer, 3rd World countries, etc.
Peta opposes testing on animals. I SUPPORT THIS. I say whatever it takes to get rid of some illnesses, do it.
Medical Testing on Animals has cured/aided in the treatment of: AIDS, Diabetes, Asthma, Autism, Cancer, Etc.
If I'm a bastard for caring more about Debbie the middle-aged house wife, who's recently developed Multiple Sclerosis, than Dum-Dum, the ape, then I'm sorry. (But not really cause I think I'm right to care more about Debbie.)
this is a non-issue to me.
P.S. I don't eat KFC anyway.

Meh.
I don't particularly care for or against testing products on animals.
As long as the testing is done in as humane a way as is feasible.
In other words don't diddly fuck around with the animals and be like "hey I don't know what this does... or even have a reasonable hypotheis; lets chuck it at Mary Sue the Monkey and find out."

Actually when I am visiting my grandma in central Ohio I do know the farmer who I buy food from... I also know his daughter.

I don't feel that it is a huge issue to worry about. However the fact that people abuse other animals and treat them badly deliberately is the real issue. I've seen videos of animals used for scientific testing being beaten and thrown in cages far too small for them. While I empathise with the animal's uneccessary pain I worry more about the minds of the people who take pleasure or saisfaction out of cruelty.
