What would the magical sex trade be like: they do have polyjuice, after all

I had a very random shower thought today. The magical world's oldest industry must be completely fucked up due to polyjuice. Polyjuice takes a long time to make and requires many ingredients. But you can make cauldron-fulls of it at a time. So guys taking the place of girls would be common, trivial, even, in this industry.

But how would that affect the sex trade? Millions of girls are trafficked in the real world for sex. Would it eliminate the need for the same in the magical world? The really poor would probably go to roadside brothels which kidnap random street urchins and force them to drink polyjuice. Or if polyjuice works on Muggles, then all the better. It's only a muggle, after all.

Would getting a hair of your favourite pinup veela be considered something worth striving for? Would the trade in hair be considered as bad as non-consensual porn is considered in the real world today? Or would it be something legal, above-board and utterly normal? And how do you think it'd change magical society?

I remember reading a fic years ago where Snape was collecting hairs from students, making polyjuice, and then selling the two together for the sex trade. Like super fucked up shit.
    --- Post automerged ---
And he was selling specially marketed Harry Potter hairs.

The wizarding sex trade, if it even exists, is probably way smaller. I mean, you can transfigure a tree branch or a rock into basically whatever you want if you're skilled enough. I'm sure creating dopplegangers/golems with the looks of anon-xyz isn't impossible either, so the polyjuice+unfortunate knockturn alley urchin combo may not even be necessary

I don't think your average wizard would be able to transfigure something inanimate into a human and I reckon the only wizards that can are the really powerful/talented ones.

Well, it wouldn't have to be a real human being. A human-like shell with some animation charms may suffice.

Anyway. Yeah, I'm starting to creep myself out.

    Link or gtfo. :p

Well, of course, but not many normal humans replace actual sex with sex-dolls in real life. I'm sure the same is true for the wizarding world, wouldn't you think?

I think it was that fic where Harry gets fed on by a dementor, gains all of Voldemort's memories, and then tried to undo evil Dumbledore's machinations. Only Dumbledore is actually really competent and undos everything. The one that started off like a good crack fic and then really went off the rails before getting abandoned.

Competent evil Dumbledore. It only works because Harry has Voldemort's memories/abilities.

Partially Kissed Hero? I loved that fic. Completely unintentionally hilarious, and it just kept getting bigger.

I'd be more worried about the multitude of mind-altering spells than I'd be about the polyjuice, to be honest.

Flitwick, every semester, has to put up with a bunch of third years who come to him acting like they really want to work on their animation charms for class.

And since Flitwick's a closet pervert, being born of a union of bestiality (he's half-goblin, right?), he teaches them what they want to know.

I remember this fic with a supremely fucked up plot point wherein Sirius loses a bet and has to take polyjuice to transform into a girl, to be fucked by Slytherins.

    Yep.

Well, polyjuice is hard to make (largely because of very specific ingredients), so I assume potential polyjuice sex services would be fairly pricey. I don't know if there is sizable enough group of rich enough people to sustain a business like that.

Nope, he has a "drop of goblin blood", so that was few generations back.

Polyjuice is either A) really difficult to create or B) restricted to some degree. Hermione had to go into the Restricted Section to get the recipe, and we don't see many countermeasures or excuses/immediate assumptions of Polyjuiced wizards performing this or that act throughout the books, which implies that it isn't very common to begin with. Plus it's implied that most wizards suck at being wizards given the number of times someone praises this or that person for being able to, for example, create a good Shield Charm that most wizards can't do.

I can fully expect that pornography is a major thing. Playboy with moving pictures, interactive portraits of sex symbols, not to mention whatever the Japanese get up to.

There's probably this or that magical invention or magical creature/plant that acts as a sex toy, fleshlight or dildo. Hell, given that Japan has had tentacle porn since the 1800s, maybe there's an actual sexual octopus that a Muggle had an encounter with way back when. Not to mention whatever small spells that can liven up the bedroom. Really, given the abilities at the disposal of wizards, they are only limited by their imagination.

I'm not so certain that the forced sex trade is as much a thing in the wizarding world (at least towards witches; there may be some areas where anti-Muggle sentiment is sufficient for it to be 'acceptable' to do to them). My general understanding of the current situation is that it is based around a couple factors:
    1) The fact women are physically weaker than men. This makes it easier to manhandle them, drug them, etc. Witches have the same access to magic that wizards do, which prevents the power disparity that tends to cause degrees of patriarchy in society. Notice that there wasn't much prejudice against gender, being more about heritage. If a wizard doesn't think of witches as weak sex objects, he isn't likely to force them.
    2) The large and diverse population. With 7+ billion people on the planet, there are always monsters looking for a 'plaything', people to supply that thing, and plenty of people to be those toys. There are an estimated 4.5 million people trapped in sex exploitation globally. Out of 7.6 billion, that's 0.06%. Given the much smaller scale of the Wizarding World, that would reduce the amount of people that are those kinds of sexual predators, which would reduce demand for sex slaves down to a fraction of that percentage. The same way that if 1% of both New York City and a town of 20000 really loved apples, the 80000 apple-lovers in NYC would create a far larger and more diverse market than the 200 from Smallville, USA.
    3) The difficulty in finding people. As mentioned above, the large number of people makes it easy for someone to be lost in a crowd. The smaller and less diverse population would make it a lot easier to find someone missing in the same way that it is easier to find out news in a small town--people know a lot of other people. Plus while the police must rely on someone actually seeing something, wizards have tracking charms.

But yeah, porn's probably a thing. Check out Sword of Gryffindor by cloneserpents if you really want to see wizarding sex stuff.

Did you just liken a smut fic to canon? When sex rituals were never mentioned at all.

There is no evidence for sex stuff for canon. Rowling's Hufflepuff circle-jerk not withstanding. This is all a thought exercise. Plus I was thinking less sex-based rituals as more sex-focused magic. It's been a while since I read it, but it's the most relevant story to the subject that I can remember off the top of my head.
