    Title: Dauntless
    Author: Allora Gale
    Rating: T
    Genre: Adventure
    DLP Category: General
    Pairing: None, as of yet
    Status: Work in Progress
Summary: Lelouch had been quite happy with his life. Sure they were living in obscurity, but he and Nunnally were safe. All of that changes however, when his identity is revealed and Lelouch is forced back into the fold of the Imperial family.

I don't know how many on DLP are interested in Code Geass, but I've always had a soft spot for it, and this is the best fanfic for it I've read so far. It's pretty slow paced (230,000 words in and Lelouch just got his geass), but has plenty of action, really, really good character developement, and, best of all, believable, intriguing politics.

The basic premise is that (before the canon timeline) Lelouch is discovered by Clovis and sent back to Pendragon. What makes it interesting is that he goes along with the emperor's manipulations and allies himself with Sneizel so he can make them believe that Nunnally's dead.

It's told from multiple points of view (Lelouch, Kallen, Kallen's brother, Gottwald, Suzaku, ect.), as they all have a role to play. Has one or two-very believable- OCs, though. Author has a great update rate as well.

The first two or three chapters aren't that amazing, but it picks up from there.

I can't really say more with spoiling it, but give it a read.

    5/5

This story is easily 5-star worthy. It's also a beacon of hope that other fandoms haven't gone completely down the drain.

The author has gone to extreme - and amazing - lengths to ensure that both the characters have realistic personalities, and the politics are intriguing but not impossible to follow.

Plot-wise, it's a little on the slow side, as it's taken 33 chapters for the story to line up with the canon storyline, but it'll probably pick up now. And those 33 chapters weren't spent idly sitting around; Lelouch takes his time to establish (or renew) his royal identity. Fans of Code Geass will notice that his methods are both amazingly familiar and horrifyingly different compared to canon.

    5/5 and beyond.

Yeah, she's in it. As is every other character from the anime.

Yeah, I've been following this since it was five chapters in and it's my favorite CG fic at the moment. Despite it taking until now to get the canon timeline, other than maybe training arc (it was necessary), there haven't been a time where I've felt the story dragging. Characters are interesting, OCs are present but they're not taking over the story and they give you adequate reactions. Lelouch butting heads with Cornelia was very entertaining. Also, now that the author has reached canon, she is making an effort to not rehash without spinning it in a different way.

The chapters aren't super huge (like 5K-7K usually) but the update rate is amazing, 33 chapters in about 5 months. The longest she ever went without an update was like a week and a half. Hopefully, it'll stay semi-decent even though she's stated that she has more real life priorities on her plate this year.

    5/5

It's easily the best one in the CG fandom, along with Code Geass: Lelouch of Britannia.

Updated today for great justice. I'm really liking this fic, but that may be because it's the first CG fic I've read outside of Lelouch of Britannia that wasn't a terrible wreck. That it took 33 chapters to reach the canon start makes me wonder if the author will be able to actually finish the fic.

4/5 from me, hope it stays strong.

Agreed. Cal reflector's fic is the best but this comes as a close second.

Well... There's also Mrridder's Destiny Realigned

This has been one of my favorite CG fics ever. I like how the story has been drawn out to show Lelouch growing from when he was to caught up to, at this point, canon time line.

I've noticed this fic for a while now but held off on reading it because the premise seemed oddly familiar with the dribble that LunaticChaos shat out a while back. But since it was recommended here, I decided to go ahead and read through it.

And fuck man. I spent all of my free time reading through the story instead of studying. This is very well written and the update rate is ridiculously fast. 4.5/5 as this is one of three stories in the entire fandom worth reading.

If we are going to recommend various CG fics then I might as well throw my 2 cents in.

Revenant is a post R2 fic and the only readable of them. If I have to number my favorite CG fics, then this one would be ranked 3th.

I may be a little late to this trend, but I'm just dropping in to say this fic deserves around 4-5/5.

First point: A good, reasonably IC Lelouch. The boy is surprisingly difficult to write well, primarily because of his multifaceted and often contradictory nature. So, a plus for succeeding.

Second point: Believe it or not, I like the author's portrayal of Schneizel and Clovis. Both princes need to be depicted more in fanfics, dammit. :D

Definitely my second favourite CG fic. :)

I completely agree on the fact that this is a great fic. I've been following it since it was first published.

It is the only true gem in code geass fanfic other than Code Geass: Lelouch of Britannia, which is itself a great fic though the author takes months at a time to update.

I highly recommend reading it. It slowly but steadyly build Lelouch's character and has great political machination.

The latest chapter right now is when Lelouch's forces have finally arrived in Area 11 despite all of Cornelia's effort to delay the fact. I'm quite sure that things will soon start picking up.

I actually forget that the OCs are actually OCs as I get the feeling that they are actually were in canon. That is how good this story is.

I really recommend you guy read this story

I initially had a very high opinion of this fic due to quite a strong start.

First thing is, the writing is too sparse. It's polished in that it flows decently, but there's no immersion factor. The description of Lelouch in the Knightmare simulator is basically him in a box with two little pedals on the bottom.

Him in the training/boot camp plot sequence was similarly dull. There's very weak indication in the writing as character POVs switch that the location has changed.

The recent war scenarios are very bland too. Descriptions all around are wafer-thin.

The other character storylines are of lesser quality. Kallen was this bombastic rabid rebel that couldn't be taken seriously, Jeremiah the Orange and Kallen's brother had a pretty poor plot thread as well. Contrivances abound - his hunt for Kallen's brother is just laughable in how badly implemented it is. I had an easier time of finding my cellphone after losing it in my room than Jeremiah did finding the terrorist. Particularly inexcusable moment where Jeremiah actually visually sees them on the streets randomly.

I'll acknowledge that it does things well. The Schneizel-assassin idea is creative, and Nunnally's separation from Lelouch is exceptionally poignant, but it fades after that scene with the paper origami.

Started skipping the non-Lelouch sections altogether, but the interest factor suddenly shriveled up and died since that became dull too. The author stated she was losing interest in Lelouch, and it shows.

I still try to pick up where I left off, but to no avail.

    2.5/5 - 3/5. Highly overrated.

I've just recently started reading this, and so far it's really good. Though nothing much has happened (in the 15 chapters I've read), the author makes worldbuilding engaging.

I chose this over Lelouch of Britannia because it's actually still being written, and it seems to be longer. I have no idea where the story is going but I'm ecited to find out - the alliance between Lelouch and Schneizel (Black Prince and White Prince) seems promising.

I'm with Andro on this one, that this fic isn't something very good. The idea and flow of the story are interesting, but the writing is just dull.

The OC created by the author are just bland and uninteresting. The entirety of Lelouche's Royal Guard could have their names scraped and use their ranks and nothing would be lost. And the only semi-interesting OC - his wife - is completely underplayed.

Also, this fic is freaking too long. The plot is moving slowly, and I'm pretty sure that the entirety of this story could be put in 1/3 of current chapters. IMO this fic is just a guilty pleasure. It has couple interesting ideas, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. 3,5/5 for decent grammar with little mistakes and couple good ideas.
