Yeah, I'm going to need a couple more days to get my team in order. I've been at the meet up in Germany and haven't had time to do anything with it. Also, I didn't know Pokemon Showdown required an internet connection to work. Good to know.

My bad guys. I totally forgot about the losers bracket, and now I'm on vacation with the folks with just this chromebook, so I can't participate.

    Damn

You can't use Showdown with a Chromebook? Does the browser version not work?

Okay, I have a team. It looks good and plays well.

I should be good for a game after 10pm GMT tomorrow, or now if you're available.

HOW THE FUCK AM I SUCKING SO BADLY?! GODDAMMIT!!

Well, I suppose now that I'm out of the tournament for good, I guess I should post my amazing team that went 0/4.

    Crobat (M) @ Black Sludge
    Ability: Inner Focus
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
    Adamant Nature
    - Brave Bird
    - Cross Poison
    - X-Scissor
    - Roost

    Chandelure (M) @ Wise Glasses
    Ability: Flash Fire
    EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
    Modest Nature
    - Shadow Ball
    - Psychic
    - Flamethrower
    - Will-O-Wisp

    Abomasnow (F) @ Abomasite
    Ability: Snow Warning
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
    Brave Nature
    - Wood Hammer
    - Ice Punch
    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide

    Breloom (M) @ Leftovers
    Ability: Effect Spore
    EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
    Adamant Nature
    - Focus Punch
    - Leech Seed
    - Substitute
    - Spore

    Eelektross (F) @ Sitrus Berry
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
    Adamant Nature
    - Crunch
    - Thunder Punch
    - Dragon Claw
    - Coil

    Porygon2 @ Eviolite
    Ability: Analytic
    EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 4 SAtk / 124 SDef
    Calm Nature
    - Tri Attack
    - Protect
    - Toxic
    - Recover

So the idea was to open with Crobat, who has been my traditional opener. Thing's a beast against the Breloom that I included in this very set, has the speed and type coverage to get a good first blow in, and has two different methods of recovery. One of my... what, four physical attackers? I went heavy on physical with this set, which is odd considering my overwhelming preference for special attackers.

Chandelure was my only special attacker, and it's packs a mean punch... whenever it didn't get OHKO'ed. Still, as my favorite Gen 5 Pokemon, it had to be in. Shadow Ball and Flamethrower were obvious choices, Will-O-Wisp for physical attackers, and Psychic for Fighting-types. Surprisingly, the only time Chandelure did well was when it was using Psychic against a Fighting-type.

Abomasnow, being my favorite Gen 4 'mon, was my mega-evo (that I only mega-evo'd for two of the battles, because I've never played gen 6 and forget that that's a thing now) and it... performed horribly. I think it was OHKO'ed in all four battles, actually. Ice Punch and Wood Hammer for STAB, Earthquake and Rock Slide to cover its horrific weakness to Fire and for overall type coverage. Turned out to be too slow to actually do anything, though amusingly it got some KO's by way of Snow Warning (I think... can't remember for sure).

Trolloom was a mean little trick that I picked up from an earlier tournament. The idea was to Spore the opponent, Leech Seed them, Substitute, and then Focus Punch my troubles away. Unfortunately, the only time I got the full thing set up was in my first battle against Aek... opposite his substituting Chandelure. Guess how well that turned out...

I had to have an Electric-type on my team since it's my favorite type, and Eelektross was an experiment that failed horribly. Yet another physical attacker, Crunch and Dragon Claw were purely for type coverage. Coil is an interesting move that I thought would be nice to use, but I ended up only using it once. Overall, perhaps my weakest link, possibly second behind Abomasnow.

Finally, there was Porygon2. I've been dying to use this thing since I figured out what Eviolite does. In particular, it turns Porygon2 into a goddamn tank. This particular one has defense of around 370 and special defense of over 400! Tri Attack for STAB and the occasional status effect was its only way of directly inflicting damage. Add in Toxic, Recover, and Protect and you have an annoying beast... in theory. In practice, it was my final Pokemon in all four battles, and every single time it was going up against a Ghost-type: either ChaosGuy's Aegislash or Aek's Chandelure. Three of the four times, I just said gg at that point and left, because I couldn't win. The other time (my second battle against ChaosGuy), I tried stalling Aegislash into using Struggle but failed miserably.

The worst part about the who thing is, I don't know where this team is failing! Where did I go wrong? Why does this team suck so much? Apparently I am a Pokemon noob, because I'm stymied. I honestly didn't expect to win the tourney, but I thought I'd win at least one battle! Maybe it's my complete ignorance of Gen 6 that's causing me issues, but if that's the case, gg me 'cause I ain't learning that shit. Otherwise, I'm stumped. You guys got any ideas?

At any rate, to wrap things up, Aekiel takes it from me. The battles weren't even close, but whatever. Hopefully he takes it all.

What is the 'goal' for your team?

    What is it's win condition?

When I look at your team I see

    1. No way of putting up stealth rocks -> You'll miss many kills you otherwise should have got
    2. No way of getting rid of opposing hazards -> You'll take more damage than you need to over the course of the game
    3. Your team is really slow -> You have no way to revenge kill much of anything
    4. You lack power due to no life orbs / choice items / boosters -> You have no way of breaking walls.
    5. No Fairies or Steels -> you're getting wrecked every time a dragon switches in.
    6. Your team is slow and has lots of weaknesses nobody can cover for -> Your team has many pokemon it just can't deal with

Your team doesn't have a game plan, and that plus the above kills it.

Nope, as long as you don't use anything banned, any team is okay.

Those were good games, glad I could watch 'em. You got hit with some bad luck at a couple points, Aek, but credit where credit is due, Rah put together a great team.

Didn't help that my team is hilariously weak to ice moves.
