    I'm looking for fics that have Harry have a twin and that the twin is an arrogant jerk because he is the BWL (apparently). Harry doesn't necessarily turn dark, but that's okay. Dumbledore can be an uncaring jerk that sends Harry somewhere, but I don't like those kinds of stories. So yeah.

    I'll be honest I have never seen that premise done remotely well, I am curious to see if anyone digs up a decent take on it. Theoretically it must be possible.

    I think Lightning on the Wave's stuff counts, but I don't know how I'd classify it. Beside preposterously long.

    Does his twin have to be an arrogant shithead? If not, Santi's Boy Who lived. If so, every one I've seen has been hilariously bad, except for the parodies, which were merely terrible.

    The only two that immediately came to mind for me were the two others beat me to mentioning.

    Lightning on the Wave has a massive series of stories that more or less fit what you're looking for. But they're full of angst and crazyness (and slash, later on) that you might want to skim over. The readable parts however can be interesting and full of ideas that aren't overdone (vates concept, etc). I think I rated it 3/5 overall, and the series is complete.

    The Boy Who Lived by Santi is one of my top 10 fanfics, but Harry's twin isn't an asshole. Harry's twin is more or less canon!Harry, actually, which was a solid choice on the author's part. I still rate this one 5/5, but unlike LotW's stories this one is not complete.

    There's also this story, which I have apparently read since it's listed on my ffnet profile, but I can't remember anything about it off the top of my head. So it probably wasn't great, but the description appears to fit your criteria.

    The only story that executes the Wrong boy-Who-Lived concept in a non-ridiculous way is this:

    Eleanor Potter and the Train Station Called Purgatory: Ellie Potter was never the boy who lived, she just happened to be in the same room at the same time, and yet she can't help but grow and notice that it is never Harry Potter who must fight his own demons. Side fic/Spin off to "Lily and the Art of Being Sisyphus"

    My favorite story written this year.

    It's good, yeah, but the OP specifically requested Harry with a twin. IIRC this doesn't have that?

    Huh? Ellie and Harry are twins in this:

    Although Harry is the fake Boy Who Lived in this, and the protagonist Ellie is the actual twin-who-lived. Slightly ironic, that. So not exactly what the OP was asking for, but it is a Wrong Boy-Who-Lived fic, and the only one doesn't go all abusive parents and evil/incompetent Dumbledore.
