Nuzlocke-ing this thing. Four of my six Pokemon are Gen 1 -.- . Mate and I are doing it on each version, with a death match at the end.

    Grinding...grinding never changes.

So for all you other poor fuckers in Europe, turns out we can already play Sun/Moon with same tampering with the region settings to access the Australian eShop. Google-fu has further instructions. Doesn't work if you've already pre-ordered, unless you want to buy it twice, though.

I'm very tempted to start with a Nuzlocke when I get it. Every other gen I dismiss Pokemon I have a feeling won't be worthy for my final team. Nuzlocke will make sure I give everything a chance.

I started a Nuzlocke. Picked Rowlet as my starter then immediately went on to catch a Pikipekapepper bird.

Then a shiny Ledyba popped up in the same patch of grass. What's the verdict on shinies in Nuzlocke runs? I caught the sparklebug, but not sure if I'm allowed to use it or not.

For my Nuzlocke runs, I'm allowed to catch and use a shiny, but only if I discard the Pokemon I actually caught in that route. And even I don't want to do that, I'll always catch a shiny... Not that I've ever found one during Nuzlocke.

Shines are usually the exception. Nobody is going to blame you for catching and using one.

Just landed on island 2. I'm somewhat regretting not doing a Nuzlocke.

BTW, I've used the QR codes twice now. Got a Cyndaquil and Litwick (which aren't in the Alola dex)

I spent forever trying to catch a Bagon in Route 3, only to fail and have my entire team overleveled. I have a level 32 fire kitten while entering Island 2...

I can honestly say that until this game, I've never felt bad for a zubat before. Watching one call for help three times in a row and going unheard was kinda sad. The little fellow lives in my box now.

I love the constant quality of life improvements that are coming to the games over the last few. The move checking while in battle is very nice, and while I wasn't too excited about the "super effective" labeling in the beginning, having it appear only after you've registered a Pokemon in the Pokedex feels like the Dex actually has an impact and it feels really cool.

Really enjoying the trial stuff, too. Change was scary, going away from the gym system, but this is pretty damn neat.

And hell, the totem fights can actually be difficult.

Damn this Nuzlocke. Lost almost all of my team. Now I'm cruising by on the pitiful remnants of a Persian and a Wishiwashi...which, to be honest, are murderous and deadly, but so, so fragile.

The caterpie, ledyba, and co in my PC box are starting to look pretty good.

Anyone else been noticing some especially brutal Pokedex entries? I absolutely love them.

Have I just been missing awesome entries over the past couple games or are these really new?

Just got a Totodile in Seaward cave after 10 QR scans...

How cheese is it to use two starters in a run through?

The pokedex seems to have stepped up a notch imho. And I chose not to use the QR Cyndaquil that popped out at me, but that's because I felt it was hax to use a QR pokemon in a Nuzlocke.

But the best thing about a new gen is trying out the new options, not going back to the ones you already know are good.

Edit: EVERYTHING IS DEAD. Except for my beloved Wishiwashi. Time to grind like a fourteen year old Mormon couple on their third date.

Yeeaaaah, someone had fun with these Pokedex entries. I caught a cute little Drifloon only to be confronted with:

"If for some reason its body bursts, its soul spills out with a screaming sound."

    Leave my Drifloon alone. ;_;

With Registered Pokemon providing info on the battle screen and these new improved entries, I actually feel like the Pokedex is relevant for once and I love it. Surprising just how much the little things like that can improve how fun the game feels in general.

    Something I just learned:

Starting in Jan, you'll be able to hook up the virtual console versions of RBY up to the Pokemon Bank in January (one way trip from game to bank). That's when the bank opens for Sun/Moon too (which seems a tad bit of an excessive wait, but meh)

Also, to melt our cold, cold hearts:

They aren't the first thing on the route. They die like the rest. No exceptions.
