TOMD: Today I chilled with Sesc, Palindrome and Aekiel. Burgers were eaten, games were played, alcohol was drunk. An awesome day was had.

TOMD (yesterday though): I was cast as an extra in the film ZOE featuring Ewan McGregor, Lea Seydoux, Rashida Jones, and Theo James. It was the first time doing extra work on such a big production, and a very interesting experience.

Had to figure that out by using YouTube and Google.
Probably 95% of my woodworking is some combination of radial arm saw, circular saw and jigsaw. As long as you stay aware of the path of the blade and don't try to rip anything without a nice, long guide, a radial arm saw's not any worse than any other saw. And it's versatile enough to be pretty much irreplaceable unless/until I give up and buy a table saw.

Gotta admit, didn't think you'd be up for a spontaneous 3-days notice trip to Birmingham :P I got Sesc's message about being in England a bit too late and I spent the first day hurriedly trying to figure out how to actually get there and keep the rest of the weekend plans intact. Worked out beautifully, and we didn't even need to figure out how to get to Cardiff from inside Wales!

Had a great time. We went to the most underground burger place. You've probably never heard of it. It was actually underground.

Also been meaning to post: you might have noticed I haven't been around as much lately. Thaaat'd probably be because life hit me like a truck all at once: I moved, got a boyfriend, and got a job all within a couple of days of each other. I have no free time anymore, but I wouldn't trade it

House of Cards season 5. So close, yet so far... But not much longer now.

One nation, Underwood.

Obviously. But at least where and when I grew up, it was all about FINISH YOUR FOOD OTHER CHILDREN ARE STARVING. It's not wise now and it wasn't wise then. It doesn't help especially when paired with how large portion sizes are in the US, because a lot of adults will then keep eating until they are 'full' instead of stopping when they just aren't hungry anymore, etc.

As a child I never once heard "if you're not hungry, don't force yourself to eat."

Fortunately my parents never made me clean my plate either. Mom knew I would eat when I got hungry and help myself to leftovers if they were available.

We need a new heuristic. One that rationalises personal nutritional needs over fullness.

One that reflects the fact that food is scarce from distribution, not production, and that the world is otherwise overflowing with food. There was enough food in 2005 to ensure everyone on the planet was fed 2700 kcal/day, every day.

Thing of my Weekend: I graduated law school and spent the weekend with my parents eating delicious food and relaxing.

Fail of my Day: My house's dryer broke. Thankfully I have a dryer rack on hand.
