All joking aside, this is a horrible tragedy I've been closely following since it initially came out. One thing that stood out for me, was a picture I'm linking below. The story I read on it reported that Libyans tried to pull Christopher Stevens out of his car after the attack in an attempt to save him, but a mere peripheral glance at it made me seethe.

I incorrectly thought it was Libyans attacking Christopher Stevens after the attack, and it made me realize that if the director/producers of the film wanted people to get angry at Islam, in a way they succeeded. Because it might even have just been subconscious, but I think a lot of people will feel that initial knee-jerk when seeing the picture.

Yeah, I wasn't joking. I meant liberalism in the fukuyama-esc notion of liberalism. Not the "I'm a liberal, you're a conservative" kind of way. I mean the "the West is a liberal civilization and we value things like equal rights and equal protections under the law" that's a core teaching of liberal institutions.

Liberal ideologies cannot stand non-liberal ideologies. It's part of the reason we found communism and fascism so repulsive, and waged war and economic war against them.
