Searching for a new GPU

So turns out Rise of the Tomb Raider is kicking my PC's ass. Who knew, eh?

2 GB dedicated video RAM seems to be not enough, guess I need 4 GB.

Anyway, I need to get a new, better, shinier GPU.

my motherboard: ASRock B85M-HDS

my current GPU: AMD Radeon R7 200

You forgot the most important part: your budget. Oh, and your PSU.

Well, I'm not gonna buy a mansion anytime soon, that's for sure.

But my limit is around 120$, more or less.

And my PSU is Silentium Deus G1

Pretty easy choice then, a 4GB RX 460/560, since the 1050 is only 2GB and 1050Ti too expensive. Unless you'd also consider buying used.

actually GTX 1050 ti is cheaper here than RX 560
https://www.morele.net/karta-graficz...-3828-1092672/ vs https://www.morele.net/karta-graficz...c-4gd-1255538/ though cheapest would be rx 460 4GB for about 500 zł https://www.komputronik.pl/product/3...paign=NiePromo

You guys are missing the most important part.

Is it compatible with the motherboard?

And apparently it is.

The last time you had to worry about motherboard compatability on consumer boards was when AGP and PCI GPUs still were a thing. And they haven't been a thing anymore for like 10 years. It'll be quite hard to find a consumer board nowadays without a PCIe x16 slot...perhaps you could find one in some weird OEM builds.

Worth mentioning that while video size RAM is important, remember that graphics cards are extremely parallel computers. The number of vector processors (also seen as CUDA cores on NVIDIA cards) is a huge component of what you can do. Also, the clock speed of those cores and the clock speed of the memory.

You can have a card with more video RAM and have it perform the same or worse.

I'd go for the 1050Ti over the RX 460/560 if you can find it cheap enough. http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare...560/3649vs3926 is one benchmark, you might look at others.

Thanks for the advice! I suspect that I'll wait a little and get the 1050Ti.

The important thing is that GPUs right now are overpriced due to massive shortage issues. Virtual currency is in a massive boom (and odds are bubble) and GPUs are being bought on mass. It's best to wait a couple of months.
