I agree that Toby wasn't all that amazing when he played Spiderman but that trilogy was still way better than this film, no question!

The second movie was fantastic but third was laughably bad. And this first movie was as good if not better than Toby's first.

Info on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been released in the past few weeks and I think it warrants a necro bump. Jamie Foxx is playing Electro and Shailene Woodley is playing Mary Jane. I imagine (and hope) Foxx's Electro will emulate the Ultimate version over the mainstream version. As for Mary Jane, I think I preferred Kirsten Dunst over this actress, at least in terms of how close they look to the comic character. This one doesn't even really resemble Ultimate Mary Jane that much.
In addition there's Paul Giamatti as The Rhino, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. I've yet to see any word on whether J. Jonah Jameson has been cast, but it'd be a damn shame if anyone other than J. K. Simmons was picked. The guy's made for that role. Plus we've got a new costume. They're finally taking it back to basics instead of messing with it again. It's straight out of Ultimate Spider-Man, the shape of the eyes and all, and Garfield's got the body type for it unlike Maguire.

The casting of Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane has severely diminished my enthusiasm for the coming films. She sucks so hard. But, well, I've never liked Mary Jane much, so perhaps it kind of fits. And maybe she will surprise me, but I'm definitely not nearly as excited for the 2nd film anymore.
EDIT: Also, ROFL at his crotch in the first picture in your costume link.

Shailene Woodley.
![]() What. The. Fuck. Why not just cut the bullshit and get Bonnie Wright to play MJ? And they should involve the Black Cat and Kingpin. It'll be absurd for a second trilogy to not feature them. I actually like the idea of a reboot trilogy if it means drawing from more villains than we saw in Raimi's original movies.

She does look much hotter in pretty much every picture I've seen of her, which means she'll be hot in the movie. Crisis averted.

Lighting and makeup can work wonders. Still, she wouldn't be my first choice. Though I'm not sure who would be either.

I'd probably get murdered for this but I would prefer Amy Adams. She's so much more MJish. And awesome. Or even rachel Mcadams with red hair! They are both better actresses than the current one. D:

Rachel McAdams, fuck yeah. She'd do pretty well as MJ, I reckon.

Not sure if Rachel McAdams can pull off playing a teenage anymore.
But if we were to cast the Rachel McAdams of 2003.... |

Nah.
http://celemag.com/wp-content/upload...-wallpaper.jpg Look at her. She's still gorgeous and young-looking. Definitely good enough for MJ.

Chris Cooper's been signed on to play Norman Osborn. He doesn't seem like a bad choice. I imagine they'll make the Goblin a bit more serious than he was in the first Raimi movie. I thought Willem Dafoe did a pretty good job with what he was given in that one. He was pretty menacing and insane at times, and hopefully this actor can do the same when it's called for.
Now the question is, will the Goblin be Osborn in a suit of some kind like the mainstream version and the Raimi movies, or a genetically altered monster like in Ultimate Spider-Man? I'm kind of hoping for some kind of fusion of ideas here actually. Make him a monster like in USM, for some separation between the two movie series (and to maintain that theme of biologically altered villains that's kind of been established in both the last movie and the video game) but keep him roughly man-sized and give him the glider and bombs and such instead of making him a Hulk rip-off with fireballs.
