Destroying the coins
I was just reading through SmallFavor again, and came past this passage: It wasn’t enough for the Denarians to simply acquire the Sword. They couldn’t break or smash or melt Fidelacchius, any more than the Church could smash or melt the thirty silver coins. Now obviously this has been said in most of the Dresden books at one time or another, but it got me thinking. We know that the swords can be destroyed by committing an act of evil with them (or at least changing them from a sword of...

Repaying Favors
In Grave Peril we see Harry's magic turn against him for (thrice?) breaking his promise to Lea. We also see him perform a truly incredible feat of magic after Susan bargains for temporary relief from his condition. My thought is that Harry breaking his promise to Lea not only caused his magic to turn against and harm him but also stunted his magical ability (power/skill/etc.). This would explain how, debatably, Harry grows stronger throughout the series. Susan's deal still lingers in...

Dresdenverse Magic
Alright, I was looking for something like this online, but didn't find it, so I decided to make it myself: A catalogue of magic in the Dresden Files universe as we have been presented with. Unfortunately, this mostly means evocations, as we aren't told the words to many summoning spells or thaumaturgy. I'll go through as best I can, but feel free to add to it. I'm including the passages that lead me to the interpretation of the spell's effects, in case anyone disputes them. Vento...

Yet another crossover idea
I understand that I'm likely going to get my ass flamed off here, but let us try it anyway. Dresden Files and Fate/Stay Night crossover. Yes, I have the idea to crossover our favorite book series with an anime. Hear me out first, though, before calling me a weeaboo faggot and catapulting me off to mugglenet. What originally spurred this idea was not, in fact, hoping for some hawt Dresden/Archer action. Instead, while going through F/Stay Night, it struck me quite oddly at how similar the...

Dresden Law
I was going to start a "Avoiding Dresden Cliches" thread for the purpose of helping myself mostly as I'm fairly new to the universe having just recently finished the latest book. But then the more I thought about it the more I was equating the thread to the "Potter Law's." http://forums.darklordpotter.net/showthread.php?t=8086&highlight=Potter+Law So, can we help the writers out there that want to populate the Dresden threads and avoid cliches, bad plots, crappy characterizations,...

I had a crossover idea...
A Dresden Files/Legend of Zelda crossover. Specifically, LoZ: Twilight Princess. The idea came to me when I was playing it the other day, and had just finished Summer Knight. The premise is, post-Twilight Princess, Link finds an artifact that allows you to cross dimensional barriers. Hoping to use it to travel to the Twilight Realm, he instead is transported to the Dresdenverse Chicago. It's...vague, but I haven't worked out any of the details yet. And it's not a whole lot different than...

Dresden Files vs. HellBlazer
Congratulations, you've successfully corrupted me. I went ahead and grabbed the first book in the Dresden Files series last night. Good read, pretty fast, pretty obviously a 'book 1 of x.' Mind you, I've only read the first book, but I was wondering if anybody else thought Dresden was a... well, nicer/cleaner/more family friendly version of John Constantine? And I'm talking the Brit, not the freaking Hollywood version.

Heavens impact
We all know that the Knights of the Cross are basicly God's warriors on earth. One book said that Sanya was saved by Micheal the archangel. Then in Small Favor Uriel shows up and helps Dresden out with Soulfire and then talks to Dresden near the end. You have to wonder how much impact God and the archangels are gonna have from here on out in terms on Dresden and his battle against the Black Council or if they are only gonna help out when he fights Denarians.

Everything Black Council
No one has done anything like this so far so here it is, a thread for everything Black Council. Theories on members, motivations, how powerful they are, etc. To start us off, here's something from the end of Chapter Eight and the beginning of Chapter Nine of Summer Knight ( pg 107-109 paperback edition). This is from the scene where, after Dresden first makes contact with Elaine, Morgan knocks on the door. "Dresden," Morgan growled form the other side of the door. "Open up traitor....

So do you have to read all the books in order to understand the story? Luke ** sorry about any spelling mistake/grammar buts its midnight and i have to get up early for work and require...

News about future books
Besides the title of the 11th book (Turn Coat), a guy has taken notes of questions asked to Butcher in an interview: UNSEELIE ACCORDS: This was my question and I didn't manage to get the answer I wanted but I did get that the Unseelies were signed a long time ago and that there are about 25 baronies in addition to the main signers and that most people who signed did not do so with good faith. MAC: Second part of my question was how did Mac fit in? He had a sponsor who put him up with...

Favorite scenes
We´ve got a thread for our favorite Dresden Files characters, but what would they be without interaction and action? What are your favorite scenes in the books? You can quote them, tell us when/where/who or just give us the page and book and comment why this scene etc. Please mark spoilers. I´ve too many scenes in mind to write them all down at once, but some special scenes for me are -The "introduction" of Bob in Storm Front (p.90-99) The way he and Harry interact is just funny and as...

Accorded Neutral Grounds
A completely random thought struck me earlier as I was making something to eat; what did Mac do to get his pub listed as an accorded neutral ground? We know they're not that common, given that it was a big thing for Marcone to be listed in the same accords, and there's no mention of ones in other places. So what did he do? I would expect that he's a wizard, probably a powerful one as well, but if that were the only criteria then there would be tons of neutral parties all over the place. He...

Favorite Character?
I'm curious, out of everyone in the Dresden-Verse canon, who is your favorite character? For me I'd have to say it would be Marcone, I love his attitude. Followed a close second by Lash. Just finished White Night and I'm sad to see her go (more sad to see Hellfire go though, looks like Dresden's huge spell flinging days are over =/.). Anyway, who do you like the most?

Queen Titania
So I was rereading Summer Knight the other day and I was wondering why why we haven't seen the Summer Queen yet. In SK we saw every Queen of Faerie but her. Dresden saw her briefly when she took away Aurora, but only as a glowing being I think. Do you guys think Butcher is going to do some type of big reveal with her identity? Maybe she's spent some time in the mortal world and Dresden knows her, and that's why we never saw her face? What do you guys think?

Bob/Harry slash...wtf?
Now, I know that fangirls will do anything to be able to write slash...but really! Not only is there good evidence in the books that Dresden is NOT gay, Bob is an incorporeal magical spirit. Would someone care explain how they have hawt buttsecks when one of them can't actually touch solid matter? The mind just boggles...

Dresden Files TV Series
I'm currently watching it and I have to say: Take Law and Order. Lower the budget. Add a little sex. And a tiny bit of magic and you have the show. I know some people like it (Nuhuh) but it doesn't really do it for me. They casted Susan terribly, Murphy terribly, Dresden isn't too bad albeit nothing like how I pictured him. I like Morgan, probably all it's really got going for it besides the numerous hot girls that show up in Dresden's life. Chances on it being brought back to...

A new chapter begins!
This has been long over due. DLP has a chance to MAKE Dresden fanon from essentially ground zero, since the current fanfics suck so bad save for the ones from our current DLP members. Lets share ideas, discussion, anything, and lets see what we can come up with. I've wanted to do this for a year or so, I just haven't gotten around to it for one reason or another. I now bring you, yet another forum to lurk in.
