Another challenge reminded me of this plot, and since I know I wont write it, I might as well mention it here.

After Voldemort kills himself trying to curse Harry, part of his soul breaks free. Instead of escaping to Harry Potter, it goes into one of his parents. Because of the evil voodoo shit Voldemort has done over the past number of decades, his soul brings to life whichever parent it effects.

The rest of the story is wide-ended. I would hope, however, that Harry would be the main character, and thus would survive the night. What happens to Lily/James is totally up to whoever writes it; perhaps they are suffering amnesia, or are completely controlled by Voldemort's spirit; perhaps they're merely restarted, and can move and think perfectly on their own(for now).
