Like the title says any recommendations outside of Nuhuh's one?

I've got an odd hankering for a decent fic in this setting, crossovers are fine, and in fact are kind of preferred if the story isn't set before ANita went full bitch tier.

The only good fic here is Stalking Blood Sack.

Lethe is probably my favourite Buffy/AB story on TTH.

Thought I had that right, drat. But yeah I meant ones before book 7 or 8.

Thanks for that Anya I'll check them out, I've been through Twisting the Hell-mouth a few times but not recently.

Mhalachai has some interesting, tho often angst-filled, crossovers. Most aren't library worthy.

Switchback - Anita back in time. Do-over.
Inevitable - HP cross. Harry abandoned in USA by Dursleys. I won't blame you for hating this one, nor skipping entire chapters.

Balancing Act - This is actually pretty good. A medium-sized one shot. SG1 crossover. Mini-Jack from the Fragile Balance episode moves to St Louis and interacts with the AB cast. Things kick off without much angst. Tightly paced and plotted. A neat fic, very unlike Mhalachai's other sprawling monsters. http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-8996/Mhalachai+Balancing+Act.htm

At what point do you consider that transition to have taken place?

Can't say I'd feel comfortable writing in this setting, what with the blatant author avatar in a heavily sexualised environment.

IIRC from previous discussions, around Narcissus in Chains and thereafter.

Yeah around book 9 it started getting a bit too weird for me, although personally, I really only got put off around the time the Rat king started throwing a fit because she wasn't sleeping with him. The turning point was post-Obsidian Butterfly I think, or whatever the Aztec Vampire one was called.

I like the setting though, all the different were-creatures and vampires made for interesting books, even if the protagonist got pretty hard to enjoy reading about.

Cheers for that Yak, I'll have a look over those.

Yeah the books after Obsidian Butterfly are generally considered to be where the series took a nose-dive. I was a fan of the books to begin with as well it was the first series I'd really read that did the gritty urban fantasy setting well. I always thought it was kind of a pity because the setting had a lot of potential.

My feel for the series was that Anita's closeness to the police force was a good barometer for how well the series was going. The further she went away from that, the deeper into off-the-rails, self-insert wish fulfilment we went.

Mind you, I enjoyed it for a surprisingly long time.

I'll echo this rec; the best of the Buffy/AB crossovers by a fair margin in my opinion. The Author hasn't updated anything in quite some time, but even so. Buffy's mental state is disjointed, but he makes it work within the context of the story.

    Yeah, Lethe is awesome.

And this is coming from the guy who (besides Nuhuh's story) knows nothing about Anita Blake books.

Author also wrote the best attempt at HP/BtVS, and then abandoned it just as he laid down the groundwork and things started heating up. That still saddens me.

This is hardly reassuring to fans of any series. :p

Well, for what it's worth, I believe I can still recognize a good story.
