Are People More In Tune to Magic than others?

I realized what I was asking now, sorry for the earlier stuff, my bad guys

I think my question really is, are people more in tune to magic than others, as in are full grown witches and wizards as in tune to it as each other, or are others able to use it more than those around them.

So like Lily was great at Transfiguration from a young age, while Voldemort was using Dark Magic before he even had a wand.

I just went on Guys vs Girls because the most powerful ones described tended to be male, but yeah, horrible mistake, as I've been made aware :facepalm

    Sorry people, my mistake

    Uh... Lily Potter?

Controlled wandless magic whilst young (like Voldemort).
Kinda said f*** you very much to the Killing Curse taking her son. A supposedly impossible feat.

What 'Power' or 'Magical Capability' are you speaking about?

I assure you that in canon, nobody is born with a set amount of 'MAGICAL POWAH!'

Aah, I'd forgotten about her, but would you say she was as talented as Dumbledore in say a duel? It took both her and James duelling together to defy Voldemort, as in it wasn't as in they both defied him three times by themselves, but rather could only just escape him with an advantage.

I dunno, it's just something I've noticed, all the most Powerful spellcasters tend to be Wizards, The Peverell Brothers for Example

The only exception would be Morgan le fay and the 2 Founding Witches.

I get what you mean, but that's just how it seemed in the books, Wizards like Voldemort and Dumbledore were from a young age, amazing at magic, like the person who took Harry said when he was there at Dumbledore's OWLs

Like was it just hard work and dedication, or something more?

Like Lily was creating lily's wasn't she? I forget, but Tom was already casting Wandless Crucio's or something Akin to it in an orphanage

Why don't you hear of female scientists from the 19th century and earlier? Are men just that much smarter than women?

    This is stupid.

This was what I was looking for, controlling animals etc; Isn't that like the Imperious Curse?

It was as though he had a firm handle on the Unforgiveables before he even had a wand.

That's not what I meant, I was just wondering why we didn't hear of any, although Lily Potter was a great example of what I as looking for, it just seemed odd as I was going through it all in terms of Magical History.

Horribly Titled Thread, I'll change it.

Changed the question in a sense because I realized what I was actually asking, thanks for the info though guys, it helped me realize what I actually meant to ask.

Another inherent power level vs knowledge & skill debate?

No thanks. Go look at any of the hundreds we've had already.

Then explain the difference between Muggles, squibs, and wizards/witches (unless course, you're playing a parsing game between "power" and "ability.")

One of those is capable of magic. The other two are not.

We don't hear about super-powerful witches because only men need to expend their energy by fighting for world domination. Women are smarter than that. We guys never stop playing games, the games just get bigger and more dangerous as we grow older.

There have been female rulers throughout history, and some of them were just as cray as their male counterparts.

I don't think corruption or violence has a sex.

    Great thread.

Op acts drunk and stumbles through to his main topic.

    Would read again. 10/10.

    :p

I think the main point of this thread is that at no point did Harry Potter's name come up. I kinda wish there were more uber!powerful!Harry fics.

lol Harry. Well, he would apparently be able to defeat Hermione anytime after PoA, and we all saw how much more she studied than he did. So that's saying something.

Your magic doesn't have to be flashy for you to be powerful. You don't need to enchant golden statues to do ballet to be dangerous. I could imagine an older Harry being dangerous because he can draw his wand and decimate a room/the people in it in a trice, because he's got good reflexes and can fling a Confringo like no one's business. Something like Moody.

He'd be quick and efficient, not fascinating or awe-inspiring.

That's how I always imagined Powerful!Harry. Now, I could shamelessly suggest you check out Ten Steps To Freedom in WbA, because it features that kind of Harry.

    But I won't.

The only purpose this thread has served is to remind me that Scrubb still won't let facts get in the way of his magical DBZ headcannon.

    nothing/10, you don't even warrant a zero.
