Might just be for us Aussies. It's listed as only coming out 29th. It's also listed as $21AUD...more than the hardcover.

I think before I signed in, it did say 27th.

Well, looks like I had it delivered to my house instead of my campus for some reason, so I'll have to wait a bit longer to read it.

    My god.

    Just finished it.

I got slightly confused with the timing through the book, but unless that's laid out for me, I normally do.

Words fail me. It was incredible.

Finally got this. I had just enough willpower to spend an hour "finishing" a paper and turning in the bare minimum before breaking out the nook.
I'm at chapter 5 (the chapter after what has been available online) and already I'm psyched about who is showing up.

I need to stop ordering from Amazon. Estimated dispatch - December 1st, pre-ordered it the day they put it up for pre-order, gah... No nearby book stores either, this is hell. The only positive is getting work out the way now.

    I envy you all. Deeply.

... I think Jim must've not had any sex leading up to this book. Dresden is really hyper sexual for the whole first chunk of the book o_O

When my book had arrived at my home this morning.

I put the book on hold at my local library really early this book (I was ~#13; he's a local AND popular author so they buy tons of copies) so I could read it on release day.

    Cue not being able to make it until the library until this Thursday at the earliest since the library closes at 6 PM. Probably for the best, since I have a competition tomorrow and it wouldn't do for me to stay up until midnight tonight reading. But still. ;_;

    Just finished reading it.

This book was just...too much. Information overload in pretty much all of the book.

And I'm kinda getting tired of Butcher using metaphors whenever he's describing power level of things. It's getting old. :/

How would you want him to describe power levels? and before someone else says it... Dresden's power level is over 9000!!!!!

Just finished reading it. Couldn't resist so I bought the e-book.

I'm a bit disappointed. Sure, it was a good book and there's some fantastic chaos and game-changing scenes. But I feel like Butcher wasted many opportunities (like reunions) to really tear at the reader and instead beat him over the head with action. There's more action scenes in this book alone than in several previous others combined.

Besides, I was expecting a colder, more calculating Harry, aware of what his actions could lead to, responsible for his shit and for those around him. This is drilled in again and again during Ghost Story, but at the very beginning of Cold Days he's basically back at post-Mexico Harry.

I can't put it well enough into words. There's just certain elements that rang hollow and out of tune in this one. Maybe I'll pick up on it better on the second read.

But hey, at least there weren't any Star Trek mindscapes.

He's the writer, I'm not. But the whole "Imagine this. And then multiply it by 10. THAT's how much power X had." thing is something he's been doing since the beginning of the series.

He likes to re-introduce characters and settings in familiar ways, too, beside using similar phrases and expressions repeatedly. It's sort of his thing. *shrugs*
