A while back I got incredibly frustrated with graphic design and my lack of inspiration, and decided to drop PS from my computer in order to focus more on hand-done conceptual work.

Yesterday I decided to get PS back up and running, so I'll take a swing at this. Probably be done by the end of the night/early tomorrow.

I like yours, enembee. It has a nice understated elegance to it. However, I do feel that the numbers are a distraction. I think it would function better as a logo without the numbers (it would be cleaner and more refined), even if some of the meaning has to be sacrificed. That's just my opinion, though; it's ultimately Murton's call.

    Work so far.

    And on a white BG

    Things that still need doing:

Choose font(s) that work best and make it work
Turn the P into the actual needle
Figure out how the hell I'm going to implement the numbers.
Maybe add borders/outline/inner structure of some sort. Lots of negative space...
    Clean it all up.

Agreed. Other than that, it looks very professional and sexy.

When I saw this thread, my first thought was that we were gonna be asked to do something like this:

    I am disappoint.

0 is the highest number on the meter, as all other numbers are in the negatives (or meant to be).

Oh, alright then. My limited knowledge of tachometrics has led me astray.

These are awesome. FTR though I tried turning the P into a needle and it looked dire. :p

Also my previous attempt really stressed me out, I didn't like it at all, so I strayed even further from your original idea, sorry.

So yeah I just prefer they way logos look if they work in single colours and they're more versatile. Not to mention you can always colour them (badly in this case) should you wish.

Second Logo just has Glass blur added to it. Not much of a noticeable change, but I like it better, less flat looking.

Third one for shits, changed the text around some. Made it look more logoish, kinda...

    And I enter.

Hope you like it, OEM, took me an hour and a- half. D:

I have the PSD for anyone who wants to learn how to make a speedometer. D: It was a learning experience for me as well. First time I've ever used the Pen tool. :s It sucks, btw.

    Edit:

Last time, I swear. Change the numbers to digital numbers, and fixed a math error I just noticed. D:

Feel free to stray as far as you'd like. The only real requirement I have is to stay around the whole RPM Audio is a play on revolutions per minute and audio.

For what it's worth, you'd be better finding the middle of your circle, producing a single vertical line, and then writing a script to duplicate and rotate around a centre point ;D

What's the legal issues with using one of these logos? When I was looking for a logo on the internet a while back, it's seems like a bloody hassle.

I'm paying the person whose logo I end up using for full usage. Payment is in the form of a steam game of decent value of the winners choice. In the eyes of the law, I'll own the artwork for my intended usage.

I may offer two lower value prizes to those which come really close which deserve something for their effort.

Seeing as NMB is a bro, he declined the prize and requested that the prize money be donated to DLP, therefore I added additional funds and donated $100US. All praise NMB.
