BajaB is one of my favorites and while this is not up to Baja's usual standards, it deserves an honorable mention nonetheless. You can tell that he's trying to get back into the swing of writing, but still an excellent one-shot with an original concept as expected from Baja.

I rate it at a steady 3.5/5.

Are you serious? You registered over two years ago, what excuse do you possibly have to not know the posting format?

I'm tired of cockbags making a bad first impression of good stories and writers by not formatting the recommendation. You didn't even review it, just threw out a generic sentence, but even that's fine. But not even meeting the bare minimum? Fucking sloppy.

On to the review.

The story is a sketch of a hateful Harry's first year at Hogwarts. Very summary and exposition-based. Harry's character is a caricature in how BajaB's stuck with describing Harry hating this and that to the exclusion of everything else.

But I like it simply for the pleasure of BajaB's writing style.

4/5 for Hulk!Harry.

 

I thought it was a very good, polished piece. BajaB does the "concept" one-shot as well as anyone in the business and delivers with a story that doesn't overreach, yet doesn't leave you feeling that it really should have been more. It was just right at 5k words.

Didn't really like it. Dunno why, but it just didn't interest me, even though it was well written. I'd give it a 3/5.

 

I don't like the hate=control concept. It's not only outside of canon (a plus often enough) but outside of logic. How could Harry be hateful all the time and still be on the "light" side? The writing is impressive enough though, and there are some good scenes in there. Check out the troll/bathroom incident!

Interesting concept, I liked it, but I thought that some parts where a bit cheesy, unlikely, not well done, or just not elaborated on. godlike!Harry was also a bit of a minus, but still, better then average.

3.5, rounded up to a 4, from me.

 

Not sure whether this is library worthy or not. An enjoyable oneshot and an interesting idea, but certainly not plausible for a longer fic. BajaB's style works well for this (and oneshots in general) and it was a good use of my time, but beyond that?

3.5 / 5, I wouldn't call it a 4 but it certainly isn't a 3.

 

Is it just me, or is BajaB's oneshots getting shorter, and shorter?

This is a far cry from Dark Marauders...

True enough. DM was fucking awesome in my opinion. I really liked DM.

It was an enjoyable read. Though the repetition of the word hate got very old very quickly.

3/5 because I didn't care for the obvious repetition and of course the potential for Super!Harry.

 

Did not like this one-shot much. It was simply a complete reiteration of the first year without anything that could really hold my interest. There wasn't anything here that I found interesting, no plot to speak of, just an angry Harry who can makes things happen if he hates them enough, even then it follows the canon story line almost exactly with no drastic changes to speak of.

I don't mind re-do fics even if they follow the canon plot, but at least there has to be something to hold my interest. There was nothing here. Not even an interesting protagonist.

2/5, good writing but that's all there is to it.

Of all the stuff that I have read of BajaB's, this has to be the worst.
