I really hoped he would bone his "mother". Alas it didn't happen.

I agree with PeterNorth it will be Draco.

I was just thinking if Harry wanted to be a real bastard he could order Narcissa and Sirius to make a pureblood scion for the house of Black.

I tried to give it a chance but could not really get into it.
Though it has its moments but they are few and they don't outweigh the cliches.

And Narcissa just got impaled on the pike. I really hope this is the last of Harry's conquests. Now some good old fashioned plot movement is what is needed.

I wonder how much access does Narcissa have to Malfoy library and assets, I doubt she can freely access vaults. Put could she copy books in them. I could see the also gathering quite a library, if only for appearances. I bet the hidden chamber under the dining room had the juiciest items. If Lucy was really high up in the death eaters, he would be lore source for his master.

So I can see Cissy getting two projects, that event fudge mentioned, and the regaining of Potter assets that Parkinson stole. Some savvy negotiations, veiled threats, and the idea of potter favor might be useful.

I wonder if Harry will make narcissa impose some standards on Draco, forcing him to behave at school, and maintain some decorum.

    Ugh.

I enjoyed the callback to '07 with Harry fucking Narcissa, not because he loves her or likes her, just because.

No, it's not actual garbage. I suspect your exaggerating for effect but just in case, I encourage you to randomly pick a story on ffnet if you want to read actual garbage. This story has anatomically correct smut (usually), character development (of a sort), and some kind of plot (apparently).

Oh and it's legible which instantly beats out 3/4 stories.

Now is it good? No, it's not good. Are a lot of us going to continue reading it anyway? Probably...

No, it is actual garbage, reeking of wish-fulfillment.

It might be shiny, but nonetheless it remains pure and utter trash.

A polished turd, if you will.

This story is enjoyable in most places, hard to slog through in others. My only problems being is that if its so easy for Harry to take advantage of carving runes into his body why has no one else tried this? Sex magic aside, the fact that the plot twists itself around the desired sex scenes can be a tad annoying. On the whole it is quite enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously 3.5/5

It seems like dark wizards are more likely to make other sacrifice for their own enhancements, rather than insuring the costs for themselves.

Just... why? Who'd invest so much time into writing a story and deliberately include something as pointless and utterly obnoxious as this? What's next, Harry's animagus name is Harambe?

Fuck this. If the author doesn't have enough self respect to avoid shit like that I can't be bothered.

I can deal with cliches. I don't mind tropes too much. An overpowered main character can be really fun. But this? This is like drawing a pretty decent portrait of a good-looking friend of yours and replacing her face with an Emoji.

It had potential at some points even if there were some cliches in there but it's taken some directions that are just kind of hard to stomach and there are bits of dialog that just seem completely off. 2.5/5

I think the 3 star rating it has here currently is pretty generous. The starting point for the story was certainly it's peak.

As I was typing this out originally I was going to try defending the interesting parts of the story such as the non sex aspects of the Harry/Tonks dynamic, the decently illustrated plight of the muggleborn, and the background effects of the story with Voldemort. I was going to defend it but it's not really worth the time. Like I said previously it's firmly below good/okay. Arguing about whether the story is a dumpster fire or just dog shit might be fruitless.

To be honest I initially enjoyed this story. Its first chapter was most definitely its apparent zenith, and since then the quality has been steadily declining. I will state explicitly that the first few chapters were actually somewhat enjoyable, at least until Harry began ritualistically enhancing himself. That was where the real degradation began. I'm not gonna get into the bad points first, for those are many. I'll deal with the good points first, since they are quite few.

One major pro is that this story has very intriguing magical theories. They are fleshed out quite impressively, albeit not as much as I would have preferred. Still, they're well-presented. The reasoning is actually sensible, as well as the following explanations. It's pretty clear that Noodlehammer actually spent time pondering the rudiments and proceeded henceforth. There are several other minor pros, but this is really the only one that jumps out at me whenever I read For Love of Magic.

Unfortunately, that's about where the pros end and all of the cons begin. The aforementioned ritualistic enhancement serves as a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it makes for some interesting magical theories. On the other hand, the execution was extraordinarily poor. The ritual enhancements have drawbacks, certainly, but the pros far outweigh the cons. Harry's gained the most ridiculous physical improvements with the only major detractors being his massive libido and intrinsic ability to flush out even beneficial healing magics. That's bullshit.

Tangentially, if a child can utilize rituals to enhance himself to such a prodigious degree, then why hasn't any other wizard done it? A child performed half-assed rituals and reaped such massive benefits yet no other wizard has done it? I highly doubt that the wizarding world is so insular and static that there is literally only a muggle-raised child who can inventively utilize the infinite array of diverse magics available. Just smells like bullshit to me.

Continuing along that line of thought, the smut in this story is disproportionate. I can understand and even accept that there will be sex in a wizarding school. Noodlehammer has even provided some logical reasoning as to why there is smut in the first place. But come on, of several thousand words, smut constitutes roughly 1/4? Just no. If I wanted that much smut I'd do a two-minute Google search and go for PWP.

Another major con is the harem aspect. This story will clearly become a harem in the foreseeable future. In most cases harems just come off as childish self-insertion/wish fulfillment with little depth given to the characters or interactions beyond the initial reason for their interest in one another. Another reason I tend to avoid them is the fact that they all seem to believe relationships just end at sex. This isn't meant literally but beyond that initial night of passion the relationship almost immediately stagnates (usually preceding the introduction of the next beau to continue the cycle).

Although I doubt that Noodlehammer will do the above, it's highly likely. At the moment this story could even be very easily construed as a harem. Harry's fucking Fleur, he's occasionally banging Bryanna and Tiana and now he's ploughing Narcissa's fields. Pretty soon he'll add Luna to the mix.

That doesn't sit well with me at all. The gratuitous amounts of sex is extremely off-putting, especially in light of the relatively low amounts of plot progression that's been going on.

Its characterization aspect is not as good as it could be. Noodlehammer is a reasonably prolific author, and he actually has a penchant for writing engrossing and provocative pieces. That said, I think he could work on the characterization quite a bit. His characters are quite bland, their reasoning is skewed at times and their priorities are a mess. Every time I think of Harry I imagine this giant, wannabe Casanova who wants to stick his dick in anything that has a pretty face and a pussy. Luna's... well, let's not go there. Fleur is the typical bombshell blonde with sex appeal and seemingly little else while the OCs are just there for sex.

It isn't as bad as the vast majority of stories on ff.net, granted. It has good grammar, world-building and an actual plot which puts it above 90% of the site. Still, it's just barely above the cesspool of trash and it seems to be regressing at an alarming rate. It sits within the realm of guilty pleasure and I'd rate it a final 2/5, which is pretty generous at this point. Let's hope it doesn't regress even further.

Alright, the story started with a lot of potential (runes, different Harry). I actually enjoyed Year 1, before everything went to shit, when a twelve year old starts to have more sex than ten adults together. Anyway, the story descended to pure smut soon, add Tonks, and all the sex scenes, it's garbage. If I wanted to read porn, there are different websites. I tried to skip those scenes and just read the plot, but even that couldn't keep me after chapter 16. I think a lot of the readers keep following due to a nice beginning.

Heh. It looks like there are many people experiencing the same issues with For Love of Magic that I am. You're actually the third person I've heard making mention of those issues. Ah well.
