Title: Harry Dresden: The First Chronicles
    Author: Durza II
    Rating: M
    Genre: Mystery/Adventure
Pairing: None, as of yet at least
    Chapters: 3
    Words: 19,923
    Updated: Mar 1, 2009
    Published: Jun 23, 2008
    Status: Abandoned

Summary: I'm Harry Dresden. I live in Chicago. And, oh, i'm a Wizard. My life isn't great. In fact, it sucks. But i try to get by. Not easy when someone's always trying to kill me. But that's life for you, i guess. My life, at least. Read on at your own peril...

Link: Harry Dresden: The First Chronicles

Two chapters so far, so it is at the beginning and one can't be sure which way the story will take, but it does have lots of potential.
At first it is very much like the start of Storm Front, but the differences become very clear in the second chapter.
There is timetravel (very interesting idea here) and much more.

Can't rate it right now, but if the ideas work it is at least a 4.5/5 out of 5.
    The future will show

(And it IS a Harry Dresden story, so points for that^^)

My god, just look at the summary... It looks like a work of 13 year old.

I've got bad feelings... Will write more later after reading it.

To my eternal shame and gainst my usual modus operandi, I have to agree with Vash.

I found the fic a rather dull and tedious read. It might get better, but I'm not holding my hopes up.

Anyway, isn't this a wrong section for this? Shouldn't this be posted in 'For Review?'

I wasn't sure where to post this, it is a Dresden Files Fic and the For Review Thread is for Harry Potter fanfictions, right? And other fanfictions are posted here, too.

So far it's just the beginning of Storm Front, and the author has yet to deviate from the book in any truly significant manner. Though the writing could be perceived as dull, it's not in horrible or riddled with blatant grammatical errors. To me, it's hovering on the border between a 3 and a 4. Judgement withheld, for the moment.

    An update...
I like the idea with the glove, it is still very close to the original.

It's... weird. It's got random timetravel, secret agencies and Harry Dresden in fucking Oxford. Yet I don't feel inmediately repulsed, even though the plot will probably start to fail in the next chapters. Maybe I'll keep an eye on it.

Well, its not terrible, and certainly has an interesting premise. However the author seems to have a bad habit of writing entirely contradictory sentences within a few lines of each other (e.g. Harry uses a spell that lowers his body temperature but moments later has a bead of sweat on his forehead).

It's really to early to tell I guess. If the author can do something interesting with the knowledge Harry has from DuMorne it could be good. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
