It's gonna be while till new semester starts. I don't know if MrJoe's Uni has a Tri or Quad semester policy but he'll update after a dew weeks of class when he realize the reality of Uni life.

So in summary: the author should not have posted on DLP, as the story has a few too many clichés for the denizens of this forum.

I honestly do not see why so many people are ripping into this story, except perhaps to express annoyance at the author. It is true that Knowledge is Power has a myriad of cliché moments, and a predictable plot, to a point. On the other hand there were parts that were quite enjoyable. The original characters were well done, certainly better than many of the canonical folks. The age difference was something that I do not see often, so it too was a breath of fresh air. The flow of the story obviously hinted at a deeper plot than you would see in your normal fare of fan fiction. I mean certainly it was not five star fare, but 3.5/5 is not too much of a stretch.

Unfortunately, while the author is a total egotistic asshole, and has really rubbed a few people the wrong way, I am force to agree with the opinion others have expressed earlier in the thread. If you are an author, you should be writing for your own enjoyment. Listening to criticism is absolutely optional, even if you want to improve, since the simple act of writing that much will greatly improve your style. To be honest, everyone would have been much better served if MrJoe avoided the DLP forum.

I will add though, that the excuse for taking down the story was rather flimsy. I have just finished a very competitive Computer Engineering program in the top university in the country, and managed to get a very nice job. However, during my studies I ensured that I would have plenty of time to spent on myself and my hobbies. I do however have a friend that is forced to work to support herself in university, even after I made suggestion after suggestion to take out some student loans. She is now barely keeping her grades up because of burnout, and has essentially lost her chance at grad school unless she pulls off a miracle. If you truly plan to work throughout university, I would suggest just dropping out and going somewhere cheaper and/or easier. If you chose not to you will probably enjoy a bout of severe burnout by 2nd or 3rd year, forcing you to drop out, or you will spend hours upon hours having friendly talks with Mr. Psychologist, and his friend Dr. Padded Room later on in life.

Still, what's done is done. Perhaps we will see MrJoe writing again, or perhaps we will not. Either way, it will not be a great loss. To be sure, there will be times when I remember this story, and wonder what it may have become. Yet, others authors will appear; Some will be better, while many will be worse. Life goes on.

As for the continued responses. I am simply forced to wonder why bother, especially when there are only a few key people that are expanding this thread. If you did not like the story, you have proven your point. If you did like it, likewise everything has been said.

    Yes.

    Because it's a shitty story.

    Indeed.

    Hell fucking no they weren't.

    No, it wasn't.

No, the plot wasn't deep, and yes, 3.5/5 is too much of a stretch.

    2/5 only for decent grammar.

Fuck you guys, I like this story, simply because this is the kind of remorseless apathetic harry people should strive to write, when they decide to write him that way.

Its just above a guilty pleasure, because its actually quite decent.

You mean when he's sitting in his dorm room, not needing to study because basic classes can be slept through and passed, gets tired of teh pr0nz, and is like, "bored...bored...bored..."

Well, I guess it prompted my own writing...

Can we please lock this unless joe decides we were right and that he will not spend every moment of every day studying for class and decides to finish it?

I must say that agree with what everyone has been saying about haveing more time than Mr. Joe thinks. While I do not work I have alot of friends who do. There are really only about two times a semester when they don't have time to do as they please. Those are usually Midterms and Finals where you are studing for exams. So I hope to see Mr. Joe back finishing this story soon.

Personally I was enjoying this story before he decided to axed it. Sure it has its faults but then again which story hasn't. Such a shame I would love to see it be completed. 3.5 Laters

Never did care to much about this fic. Looks like the author couldn't keep up with the story.

To bad. This story had potential, but failed amazingly at what it was trying to accomplish, which I'm still not sure of. Better luck next time if you ever write fanfiction again.

I thought it was decent enough.

A lot of haters of the story though.
Ripping endlessly into him seems to be a tad harsh.

There's a difference between constructive criticism and then just crushing the author's will to continue a story that had the potential to get better, if he would just keep writing.

So yeah... refrain from going "ROFLCOPTER LAWL FAILZ," or some other crude, automatic dismissal.

Did you read this thread? Almost everyone who 'crushed' it actually liked the story; do a search for 'guilty pleasure' within this site and you'll probably end up right here. Thanks for the definition of constructive criticism - I hadn't known what that meant before your post.

    Read the thread?
I've read enough to understand that it seems to be mostly composed of four types of people.

    The people who:

    A) Bash the story with automatic dismissal.
    B) Bitchslap the story whilst stating "guilty pleasure."
    C) Point out types A and B's existence, and comment on it.
    D) Look at type C's posts, and harshly rebuke them for having spoken out at all, usually throwing in a derogatory comment.

Sorry for ruffling your feathers, dude.

You know, I was really looking forward to the next installment of the attack veela.

The story had its faults, but it was better than 99.99% of the HP fics on FFN. That absolves any guilt I may have ever felt by reading it. It's sad to see the fic go, although I don't think I'll miss the author too much.

Sad thing is, I liked his Naruto story, too.
It had the same style and humor *sigh*

There are so many shitty stories, that we should treasure the ones that aren't.

I'm not surprised that he took down this story and all his other ones, even though it wasn't the reason I thought it'd be. I expected it to happen sooner or later given that he deleted his Naruto fic just because he didn't like the way the manga is progressing. Some how I liked Puppet Master Naruto a lot better than this one.
