Hello everyone, I go by the name Uncle Stojil on the net.

I was recommended to take my story to this forum and decided to follow the advice after looking at the wba section, which seems very helpful to a writer who wants to improve. I'm currently trying my hand at a HP/Dresden Files crossover and I'm gonna post it there soon.

I understand it wasn't necessary to introduce myself but I'm doing it anyway. I'm a polite guy. Really.

I once enjoyed reading fanfiction, mainly in the Harry Potter and Naruto fandom, but I pretty much stopped some time ago, with the exception of the occasional update of old favourites. It's pretty rare I start reading a new story now, and even then I usually lose interest either midway or while waiting for an update.

When I read a story, I hate character inconsistencies, out-of-the-blue plot devices and unrealistic dialogue. I like character growth and original ideas, but can do without if the fanfiction is a parody, a genre I usually enjoy, and the author is funny, which seems to be something incredibly difficult to find. I'm also a sucker for time-travel sub-genre and nutty/crazy characters, while I rarely have a favourite pairing.

I may have stopped enjoying fanfiction, but I still can't stop reading good, original novels. Daniel Pennac, Dino Buzzati and Oscar Wilde are among my favourite authors, while Terry Brooks holds a special place in my heart for being my first (yep, I mentally bonked him... a lot). My all time favourite novel is The Emperor's Tomb by Joseph Roth which strangely enough I liked much more than the author's most considered masterpiece, Radetzky March. I rarely read essays, biographies and historic books... I'm a fiction - and polite - guy. As for manga, I follow One Piece weekly and catch up on Berserk, Vagabond and HunterxHunter (it's deaaaad!) when I fall a bit behind. Can't stand anime at all.

I love writing and don't picture myself ever getting tired of it. Be it in Italian (my first language) or in English, fanfiction or original stories, I spend most of my free time hammering down on the keyboard like an obsessed, which I sorta am, I suppose. An obsessed - polite, fiction - guy.

I'm also a Joss Whedon fanboy (I love everything that little man ever gave us), and follow him and his 'alumni' as closely as I can without being a stalker... that is, as long as I can stand their new projects (*cough* Cape *cough*). I laugh to death every time I see Craig Ferguson's late late show on my TV/screen and I'm in love with Hitchcock and James Stewart.

It's cliché to say it, I know, but I don't really have a favourite music genre. I don't like heavy metal, dance and house music, though. Right now I'm listening to M Ward, Florence + the Machine, Joanna Newsom and Brandon Flowers.

I'm a big NBA fan and am simply giddy about the starting playoffs. Hope my San Antonio Spurs will do well, but this year I'm also rooting for the two Italians still playing, Gallinari in Denver and Belinelli in New Orleans.

Speaking about it, I'm going to watch Philadelphia @ Miami now.

Holy shit, it's you! You're not dead! Your Naruto Time Travel fic is by far one of my favorites, and remains the only one I actively follow. Fair warning though, we're mostly heartless bastards here, so lurking for a bit and reading the stickies is advised. Do feel free to post drafts in Work By Author, as we have some of the more critical forums which tend to produce the best results.

Quite a few of your stories have gotten into the library here, IIRC. I know I recced one at one point. You've always had wonderful ideas, though the non-native language hinders you somewhat.

If you want to get back into fanfiction, I recommend reading the best of the best. That would be DLP's own C2; do subscribe and help us out in reaching the top. My personal favourites include Ectomancer by RustyRed and Circular Reasoning by Swimdraconian - both great writers from DLP, both quite inspiring.

It's great to see you over here on DLP. Welcome.

It's not polite to keep mentioning how polite you are.

Welcome. Can't say I'm much into Naruto, but I liked the Dresden Files and HP. So long as your fic doesn't deal with spoilers from Changes, I will read it. (I've been meaning to pick it up.) If it does...please put spoiler tags as a forewarning. I wish other authors would have.

    Enjoy your stay.

You actively follow All Is Relative? I haven't updated it in ages! Anyway, thank you both for that and for your warning. I lurked quite a bit back in the day when I read fanfictions - this forum was by far the best place for good recommendations - so I know what to expect. Furthermore, I understand you all have a much more mellow approach (I'm not calling you soft pussies! Please, don't kill me!) with newbies now, so I hope I'll manage.

I shamelessly google my 'pen name' some times... I knew about my stories in DLP's library. As for my English, I'm hoping to improve that as well as my writing by posting here.

I read Ectomancer and quite liked it at the beginning. Unfortunately, at one point I thought it didn't live up to my original expectations and so dropped it by the sixth or seventh chapter. It's one of the few stories I left reviews to multiple times on fanfiction.net but the last one wasn't very positive, I think.

Either I've never read Circular Reasoning or I don't remember it. I will take a look at it.

It doesn't, at least not before a very long time. But I'll most likely abandon it before that. I should probably mention it is already on fanfiction.net, both for a bit of advertising and to ask this question: should I post it here starting by the prologue or by my next chapter?

Thank you all for the welcome.

Hey, dude. Just so you know, you don't have to sign your posts with your name. You can make a signature, but we really don't need to see your name twice.
