NPH is pretty epic in this, the girl who plays Robin is smoking hot, and the show has a lot of funny parts. Some episodes are total wastes until you get to the Barney content, but thankfully 75% of his scenes are Legendary.

    Who else is watching?

Fuck yes, Barney. He's what kept me going through Ted and Robin doing a Ross and Rachel impression.

NPH is completely the man. If he doesn't get an Emmy this year, it will truly mean the awards are completely meaningless (which I already sort of think). The show has its moments of annoyance, but Barney never fails to be... awesome. "Then I get Bingo, Ted" - brilliant.

I've been watching this from the start. I don't just enjoy it for Barney I enjoy it for all the references that can be drawn from the show
    The Hot crazy scale
    The lemon rule
"This is going to be legendary"
    "Go for Barney"
    "Lawyered"
and so much more. I also like the episodes that connect with past episodes, that you wouldn't understand unless you've been faithfully watching the show. The Slap Bet, the Pineapple, the billy goat. the Fierro, and Rajiff the cab driver. This is a well done show, and yes it is made infinitely better by Barney.

Favorite all time moment is the letter he leaves to his one night stands:

    "Dear Resident,
The time we spent together, however long it was, meant the world to me. I would love to see you again but unfortunately I cannot. You see… I am a ghost. I can only materialize once every decade on the anniversary of my death. I chose to spend my one day among the living with you, sweet resident. Perhaps we will meet again in another decade provided you keep your fitness. Until then, all my love from the beyond,

    Barney”

Watch it whenever it comes on basically. Favorite moment is the time when they listed the stupid sentences with 5 words said by men.

    "I can trust you guys."
"I can totally make that." etc. etc.

This show has been my favorite show to watch for like... 3 years now. It's just that fucking epic. It got much better after Ted and Robin broke up. And before you say it, fuck off, that ain't a spoiler. It was told in the first episode that they were going to break up.

NPH definitely makes Barney the best character on the show. Suiting up, the Lemon Law, etc etc are what make the show awesome.

I was fucking pissed off as hell when I saw that Lifetime got the rights for its syndication. And I mean, what the fuck? Lifetime? One of the funniest parts of the show is how Barney bangs women and leaves them.

Edit: The episode Slap Bet was the best episode ever.

I love this show. Anything with NPH is going to be epic.

It's the group effect. Look at the individually...

Its been one of my favourite shows since I watched the first episode.
Barney is the best character by far. The fortress of Barnitude is just awesome, the toilet seat that automatically goes up, the bookcase of porn complete with lighting, the fact that the TV was the entire wall and not to mention the storm trooper.
There are just so many running gags that you enjoy the show a lot more if you've kept watching it. Like the slap bet moving into Slapsgiving. We better get a legendary ending to the goat saga, it’s been out there for 4 seasons now and if we don’t get to see what happens this series someone needs to die slowly.
Scary that it more than likely would have got cancelled last year if it wasn't for Britney Spears doing those two episodes. At least she finally did something useful and wasn't too painful to watch.

Quality show. Everytime I'm out with my friends at bars, I start playing "Hi, have you met Ted?"

Okay I just d/l'd an episode and I'm confused.
Do we still get laugh tracks in the 21st century, or are they trying to make it seem quaint?

They tape the show, show it to a real audience, and record them actually laughing to the show for real. Not canned laughter like normal.

And yes, I just saw Slapsgiving. EPIC.

Tonight's episode was fairly good. Barney's video made it.

Midknight: You watched Slap Bet, right? The one all the shenanigans in Slapsgiving was based off of? Episode 2x09 I believe.

yes! best comedy on TV (if not best show period). Lemon Law, the Hot-Crazy index, the Circle of Screaming, and the Bro Code are Legen-wait for it and I hope you're not lactose intolerant-da(i)ry.

Best parts are when Barney meets a problem, like when he loses he meets the 'man-maker' and loses his confidence and on the train after the marathon.

I highly recommend the book 'The Bro Code' written by Barney Stinson with Matt Kuhn.

HIMYM is pretty good television, but sometimes Ted and the episodes just get too moral and preachy. I watch it for the laughs, not that hackneyed life lessons.

Though it is extremely amusing to realize all these crude sexual encounters (like say the naked man pickup? Wait til they leave the room and just get naked. Works 2 out of 3 times.) are supposedly Bob Saget's voice telling this to his young impressionable children. Can you imagine how scarred these children must be to listen to stories of Uncle Barney's shamelessness and Marshall and Lily's sexual escapades?

And yes, the Slap Bet episodes are some of the best. Especially for Robin Sparkles career as a teen pop star. Those songs and her music videos are classic.

I'm not ready to call it great though because half the time it feels like Barney's character is a tool to trick me into watching 'chick flick'-like material.

I watch Chuck when this show premieres and it isn't worth the download later on. I do watch repeats if I am channel surfing and it is amusing most of the time.

Ditto. Especially now I have Chuck and House getting DVRed at the same time slot. So I gotta go online to watch Big Bang Theory and HIMYM. And for me, Big Bang > HIMYM as well.

I get the impression from some of the moments of recollection that he is meant to be telling his children a heavily bowdlerised version of events.
I just watched it, pretty good show, though Ted is quite annoying.
