I am pleased to say that there's no mention of rape/impregnation camps. God, that was so fucking cringeworthy to read about. Especially that machine powered by rape.

The focus is mostly on how the humans just about got done with the Aeon War and started exploring a bit beyond their reach, hence the encounter with the Turians.

A lot of the tech from the RPG book is there, and it's all used decently. For those new to the setting, each chapter has several codex entries, explaining key stuff that was mentioned in said chapter.

So all in all, it uses the good stuff from the CT setting and combines it with Mass Effect. Slow updating schedule, mind you, so there's no rush needed.

Guess I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Speaking of which, let's not forget the pre-written adventures with the unavoidable rape of PCs.

    Oh FFS.
Seeing as we've been discussing this fic before in this thread and Odran's post was a: heads-up, there's an Update. I don't see a problem.

Having read much of Mythos Effect, my thoughts are mixed at best. I liked that most of the story is from the perspective of the Turians, since that's the best way to accommodate a bad match-up. However, I felt that the humans were much too human, for lack of a better word. For me, the price of human victory in the Aeon War should be a humanity that is no longer recognizably us.

Read it. It has an extraordinary amount of depth and breathes volumes of life into the main characters. Has my favourite portrayal of Wrex in the fandom.

You can also always give Fight for the Lost + Sequels a read. They're not as good as Interstitium, but they're well worth your time.

    The same one.

Okay, time for some review of the latest chapter. The story started great... but goddammit the Citadel forces are so freaking stupid... the whole idea of putting some turian general in charge of the whole force, up to and including the Destiny Ascension, is simply ridiculous.

It's like transplanting Erwin 'the Desert Fox' Rommel from the African Campaign to the Pacific Theater of Operations. Give him the operational command and expect the Battle of Midway to be a done deal. :facepalm

The fact that Matriarch Lidanya, the captain of the DA tolerates his condescending attitude had me rolling my eyes time and again.

There is no conflict. No parity to it. Not because of the technological disparity. But because the turians are so fucking stupid I begin to wonder how it is that they can walk and breath at the same time.

This story went from a tentative 4/5 to 3/5.

If only the author made the Citadel races more competent and not the mockery and goofiness parade we are being served.

Not sure if it's been talked about here yet, but has anyone read Avatar of Victory by James Golan? It's one long motherfucker (1.4 million words), just like his other fic Three Families. Avatar + Mass Effect crossover.

Now I've read Three Families, and it was good, but probably too wordy by half. Imma scared to just dive in to this one.

I've been keeping up with that one. I actually like it quite a lot. The fusion between Avatar: TLA and Mass Effect is done very well and deeply, and it's full of interesting lore. The characters are nicely done overall, but I can't tell you if it improved over time or was always nice like this since it's so damn long and I started it so long ago. I'd give it a shot for the Spirit World lore and how the reapers fit into everything if I was you, it's one of the more interesting takes on it that I've seen.
