As title suggest, I'm currently craving for this type of story, where a modern character somehow ends up in a historical setting. Specifically, I wish for it to be, say, a cook that travels to the past etc etc. I do not mind what type of medium it is on, whether it is a book, anime, manga, or fanfiction.

    Examples of what I want:
    Manga:
    Jin
    Nobunaga no Chef
    Fanfic:
    Fate: Servant and Cook

What I am NOT looking for:
I am not looking for some crazy modern hero that becomes a warrior of the past, general, or some other fighting role. What I am more looking for is someone that adapts to a historical setting with relatively normal skills.

If you guys have any idea, that'd be great! Thanks.

Not quite what you're looking for, but Zipang is an excellent portrayal of a modern Japanese Destroyer + crew being sent back in time to 1942, just before the Battle of Midway. It's primarily character driven in that some of the crew want to stay as far away from Imperial Japan as possible (given the advanced technology modern destroyers have in comparison to WWII) while others want to help Japan win the war.

It's very good and a departure from a lot of the tropes anime usually include.
