Old Pendragon Story?

    Hi all,

    Searching for an old story from a site long removed from the internet. On DJ MacHale's Pendragon forums from around '09-10, there was a section for original fiction. One story had the basic premise:

    A man travels up a mountain to a monastery, where computer banks are simulating the end of the world. He disbelieves them, goes outside, and the stars twinkle out.

    Anyone remember that story? Or just belong to the old site?

    That sounds an awful like Arthur C. Clarke's The Nine Billion Names of God. Are you sure you're not thinking of that?

    MacHale wrote stories similar to that. Pulpy young adult SciFi. Actually sounds like someone made a AU of the third or fourth book in the series but as tar as FF goes I don't know the story you're talking of
