I'm really liking Peter. Let's hope that he'll be a recurring character. Because they really could use someone of his ilk.

Don't worry, he's a Thorburn. He'll eventually turn out to be a complete asshole just as much as Rose is.

Oh, he's an asshole alright but he's my kind of an asshole.

Yeah, for some reason I like Peter way better than nearly every other character. This... may be a sign that Wildbow has made a ton of extraordinarily unlikeable characters though.

Peter, with Blake as his familiar maybe?

I'm sure its a red herring but I would like to see a Thorburn Witch hunter. Ellie and Peter sort of remind me of Eva and her brother.

That would be cool, and Peter does seem the type to have a familiar that feeds on fear. He'd be able to work with that. He's out of the line of succession for the Thorburn estate too, which means Rose won't be forced to smack him down out of necessity (maybe just out of spite).

He could actually be what Rose needs right now, too, if they're able to put aside their history for a while.

I just started this a few days ago and caught up with it today. I think I liked Worm more, but that might be because it was complete when I got to it and I could read the whole thing in a row.

I love the setting, and like most of the characters. My main problem is that Blake never actually seems to win anything. You can only root for the hero for so long while watching them fail before you just get sick of it.

Though the latest chapter dropped a nice plot twist that gives me some hope.
It's been revealed that Blake's not a vestige, but he and Rose are two sides of the same person, separated by the Barber. Whoever is the most powerful is the one let outside of the mirror

So the latest chapter was quite interesting. Maybe we'll see Blake being badass before everything goes to shit again.

Considering how pissed he is, and what's on the go, we better see something badass haha.

I have to say...I'm not really a big fan of Pact. The writing is good, as to be expected, but I don't really like any of the characters, and I find Blake to be just a bull in a china shop, in the worst way (compared with Taylor, who was a bull in a china shop in the best way), and Rose is far too smug and controlling. I've gotten past the part where its revealed that Blake

Is the vestige and not Rose

and I admit its a clever twist...but I just don't care about any of the characters.

I like Blake and Evan. That's enough to keep me reading for now. I had the benefit of starting Worm after it was already finished, but I think I'm liking Pact nearly as much. I find myself checking for updates every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at midnight.

Eh then it isn't for you Frodrick. The only thing I can say in Blake's defense is that his bullishness isn't necessarily his choice but if you've read that far and you don't like anyone then I wouldn't force myself to continue if I were you.

Gotta say, Pact is really hitting its stride right now. I might be speaking too soon, but I think it's starting to surpass Worm in a lot of ways. It's nice to see Blake finally being a badass.

Anyone know how to edit the css on the wordpress so as to swap the colours of the text and background? White background kills me.
EDIT: Did a hash-job myself. At least my eyes don't bleed now

I've been following Pact for a while now, and while I enjoy it, I feel like it suffers the same problem that Worm did in that its protagonist is constantly fighting an uphill battle. Every conflict is immediately followed by another. There's a constant sense of exhaustion, and it gives the feeling that it's tiring rather than thrilling. Every victory is shadowed by loss.

I don't know, maybe other people enjoy that kind of atmosphere, but it gets old fast for me.
