Well, I can't believe it, but I did it. I surprised myself by (mostly) finishing Patronus Charm. As of midnight MST on January 1st, 2008, we open our doors to the fanfiction world with our first release, 1.0.0 Beta. It's a beta. It'll have flaws. If you find flaws, be sure to let me know about them.

Authors pre-release: You'll need to re-edit your stories' categories from the control panel

As for what doesn't work yet (scheduled for next release):
-Text search. I need more stories posted to write an effective query that won't return bad results or murder my server.
-FAQ. This is just a placeholder while I write questions.
-Help. This will be replaced with a static page soon(TM).
-Javascript page text resize/font changer. I haven't figured out why it only selectively works.

Lots of improvements are on the way. So lets see how it goes. Enjoy!

HOORAY! Congrats on finally finishing :). It works smoothly and much more efficiently than any of the other sites we're accustomed to using.

Wondrous, simply magnificent. I've been playing around with a few different things, I'll be sure to let you know if anything unusual occurs; in the meantime, it looks great!

I hope we can use this website instead of FF.net for all our Harry Potter stories from now on. It may take a while thought.

Our salvation! This site will be everything ff.net should have been. Slash filters, quality writing, great critique, etc.

Noticed something that you may want to fix. When you place your cursor over a text box (Author, word count, etc) a tip box shows up. Problem is that the tip box is behind the drop down boxed bocking out portions of the tips. Not sure if that would be fixable.

Would PatronusCharm be offering a beta service for writers?

There can always be just a link to Perfect Imagination. There's an FAQ there about the scheme.

It isn't this way for me, so I imagine it must be Internet Exploder 6. I can work on it.

Looks great; well, there's lot to do on the layout, mostly little details no one but a perfectionist would notice (like a container (div) placed a little to high, the padding too great in some places, too small in other, more tags modifications like the .hr to give it 1px height and perhaps another color.

Oh, you forgot to get rid of one <table> and replace it with a div. Not that it changes much in the end, but well...

I can't seem to get the java script for the font changes/resize when reading a fanfiction; I didn't check for the cause, though it doesn't work with IE or Firefox.

Still, it's really impressive what you've done. I wouldn't have had the courage to make all this, so big congratulations to you!

Edit/Ps: have you considered making this project Open Source?

This was intentional. It was extremely difficult to get <div>s to replicate the format on the read story page, When I have time I might try again.

See my first post, this is a known issue.

Maybe in the future, but honestly, it's not built to be a public project. I built it for myself.

Looks great Raven, congrats. A question about how the categories will be done though. Are stories going to be able to go under more then one category or do they just stick to one? I'm just remember the issue with noir stories for last years awards.

Awesome job Raven! Nice clean look and definitely has all the features that we've wanted. Definitely the best interface out there for submitting fanfics (and it seemingly works well with Macs too, huge bonus there). Thanks for all your hard work. If you need any help with the site let me know, I'd be glad to chip in however I can.

    /Me like it!

I don't know if you already know, but at the moment you can add a story two times in the alert list.
