I've not done it, but I think Romance with her is basically non-romance? Doesn't she basically say 'not until you graduate'? I think i read that somewhere.

You're not wrong though. While I didn't particularly care for any of the older women, I probably wouldn't pick them even if I did.

You bang her. Futaba is one of the only ones where the sex wasn't implied, at least until Valentine's.

And yes, Lavenza. Well, Elizabeth was genuinely my favorite in P3, and Margaret would have been better than either Chie or Yukiko in P4. Guess I have a thing for the Velvet Room assistants.

    She looks like she's 8...

And bang who? The most you do with Makoto is cuddle. Maybe kissing is implied...

And here kids we see the difference between having your mind in the gutter and innocence.

(I thought sex was implied as well)

If you romance her before Hawaii, you can go on a date with Sadayo and she gives you a promise ring. So, y'know.

Speaking of, is Hifumi in Hawaii too if your slink is high enough? Yusuke got directed there so i figured she would too, but my bond with her wasn't high (maybe 0 or 1) by that point in my first play through.

I believe so, yes. I was only at Rank 2 with Hifumi at that point in my first run, so she didn't call. I'd also already friendzoned Ann, so the only option I got was Makoto. I think Kawakami is also a possibility, but that might require you to be romancing her. I was at Rank 8 there, right before I'd have had to make that choice and no call from her either.

Or it might be linked to the question Ann asks you in the hotel room about what your type is. I picked smart because I wanted to date Makoto, and that was the result I got.

Yeah, I had Hifumi as an option in Hawaii, my link was 4 or 5 iirc. I also picked smart to Ann's question, that doesn't seem to do anything. Although wouldn't Hifumi be the smart type? She gives knowledge and required max knowledge later.

So who all chose the true ending vs. evil ending?

Wasn't a hard choice. If MegaTen has taught me one thing, it's that siding with Law is always a bad idea.

I mean, compared to p4g, there's basically no choice. I don't mind that.

I do mind how boring the romance is. Feels like, technologically, it hasn't progressed since ps2. I'd have taken a fraction of the options if it meant one person not in relationship acknowledging it's even a thing.

Yeah, especially when it's within the main party. Hell, the girl you actually are with never even mentions the relationship unless you're specifically doing a date scene with her. It's just wishful thinking, though. Atlus seems pretty adamant on never allowing the romance to bleed into the actual story in any sense whatsoever.

I'm not even asking for full separate scenes. I'd take single lines in each conversation being changed out if only to nod at it.

I mean...there were couple times it got mentioned, but not nearly enough. One time while hanging out with Mishima he was talking about some girls coming to meet us and my character had the option to say, "I'm taken."

I would take Makoto sitting next to me - closer than would be acceptable unless in a relationship - while the regular scene plays, lol.

As beautiful as the animated scenes are, they really hamstring potential dynamic scenes.

Also, given how much they love doing dialogue over text, it's downright bizarre you don't get random, silly couply texts. Would be so easy to do.

'The Togo Kingdom was once again victorious. Miss you. ♡ ~('▽^人)'

'We need to get Ryuji a girlfriend so he can be as happy as us!'

'I want you to come over and meet my sister.'

Ect and so on. Note, not sure if the japanemoji workd lol

On the fence about this. Just got four consecutive days off work and I can't be bothered with socialising, so that says game marathon to me.

But since this is still going for full price, it's a bit of an investment. Is it worth diving in the deep end for a first time Persona player, or should I wait a few months for the price to drop to a fraction of the current total?

And if I do, any tips for someone new to the series?

If you like jrpgs, 100% worth. Four days won't be enough to beat the game though, not even close. Knowledge of the previous games isn't necessary - while it takes place in the same world as 3 and 4, there are only a few references, and the plot is completely self-contained. It's a great game for newcomers to the series.

Tips? The game is split into social sim and combat parts. This doesn't make any sense to you yet, but carry a Persona of the same Arcana as the Confidant you're hanging out with. Different answers give different affinity points, leading to faster rank ups. It's worth it to hit the shops and vending machines at least one a week, since stuff refreshes weekly. You get bonuses to certain actions on certain days (the game tells you when it becomes relevant), remember when to do those.

As for combat, it's a lot like Pokemon in that you're mainly trying to abuse elemental weaknesses. Your main character can carry multiple Personas, have coverage for everything your party can't do. You will end up fusing a ton of Personas together for new, stronger ones - don't get attached to anything. That's just how the game works. For the first few dungeons, the time you can stay exploring is mostly dependant on how well you can conserve your SP.

Like the game tells you, take your time, and focus on stuff and characters you like. There's no need to follow a guide and stress out to 100% everything in one playthrough. It's much easier on ng+, if you have the interest/time for it. If not, there's always youtube for scenes you missed. In fact, I'd strongly suggest against using a guide. The game feels much more free and enjoyable that way.

Oh, and pay attention to the calendar deadlines. Don't leave stuff on the last day. There could be unexpected delays.

    Tips for a min/max

Finish palaces as soon as possible. Max out your social stats. Save your money.

I use new game plus to explore all the relationships since you have more time because social stats and money carry over.

    That's for min maxing though

Enjoy the story. It's very subtle.

Deals with some mature themes really well though never truly addressed the morality of what you are doing especially well. It's a great game though with awesome characters.

    5/5
