Since the Steam Winter 2015 Sale is currently on-going, I wanted to point out Pillars of Eternity as an excellent cRPG to grab. There is homage to the older infinity engine games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale--it's a spiritual successor!

I know there are a lot of turn based "old school" rpg games being released now... a number of them are indie projects. This is good. However, Pillars of Eternity from Obsidian is on it's own level in terms of gameplay and quality. I remember spending almost 1 hour on just character creation!

Give it a try, if you haven't. If you have played it, let me know your thoughts!

I've been meaning to try this, as well as Icewind Dales and the Baldur's Gate games. Should I start with PoE, or the older titles? Will I be disappointed with the older games if I go to them after PoE?

    TheWiseTomato,

To answer your question, I think you could play PoE first and not lose out on Baldur's Gate I/II (you should play with the trilogy mod). The only thing to keep in mind is that Baldur's Gate has aged graphically in comparison, but there's mod support to make up for it with high res textures. In terms of gameplay, I still prefer Baldur's Gate I/II, but I am enjoying my time with PoE so far (I'm currently on the DLC).
