    Title: Red Hair, Green Tie
    Author: Kevin Vacit
    Rating: unrated
    Genre: ungenred
    Status: incomplete
Library Category: General or possibly The Alternates.
    Pairings: None so far
    Summary: unsummaried
    Link: Spacebattles

This story, which has just about completed first year at this point, is extremely interesting. The basic premise is that Ron, do to his ambition to surpass his brothers, chooses to be sorted into Slytherin.

The story avoids common cliches with this: Slytherin isn't 100 percent racists, and the other three houses don't hate people just for being in Slytherin. Ron remains friends with Harry, but the story doesn't go in the canon rehash "golden trio" direction. Ron spends much more time with members of his own house, and isn't involved in Harry's adventures, which happen off-screen.

Characterization of canon characters and canon OCs is pretty good so far.

All in all, 4/5. Its not amazing but its new and interesting, and is the only Slytherin-centric non-Harry-centric story I've read and liked.

The story is only posted on Spacebattles so it doesn't have nifty things like genres or a summary, but the threadmark system makes it easy enough to read.

    Way too short to rate.

Sorry. I guess I should have waited for more responses in the almost recommended thread before posting.

If it's in the Almost Recommended thread rather than the For Review section, there's likely a reason. More often than not it's due to a story being shy of Library standards, or having too low of a word count to properly review.

    No worries, it happens.

Actually, the Library has an Almost Recommended section now.

    I know.

    Its description reads:

"Stories that didn't quite make it into the library but have a chance to make it out or sit well within the realm of guilty pleasure."

The point was that Almost Recommended is just that, Almost. So things that don't quite make Library standards (or are just guilty pleasures), or are too short to review (but might rate a review later).

I was basically just saying that it's not a big deal.

...Though I do love that we have a section within our Library for stories that aren't good enough to be in our Library.

I enjoyed year one, but yeah, too little to meaningfully rate. If it was abandoned today I wouldn't recommend what's been written to people.
