Which is just a cropped version of this nifty "Re-Imagine Star Wars" submission.
This is my current desktop.
My current desktop:
I toyed with the idea of rebuilding the whole thing as a Rainmeter skin, and having it actually display the date/time in the Calendar of Imladris. Then I decided that getting the date conversion right (accounting for leap years and such) was annoying so I was then just going to have the tree change colour at sunset/sunrise. I even made up the images for that, but it looked worse than the basic version, so here we are.
The honeycomb buttons aren't great but I haven't really seen anything else that's halfway decent.
Just after saying I couldn't find a decent launcher skin, I found a good one. I've replaced the honeycomb skin with the Circle Launcher skin.
The button that says DLP on it takes me to this site. It looks so shitty because my photoshop skills are subpar.
Not quite my desktop, but I may or may not have gone full retard with the pursuit of an actually dark windows interface...
I'm using a combination of custom stylesheets on every site I visit often, extensions to fix minor details on chrome like the scroll bar, and a dark UI theme for windows 7 which was the only way to change the address bar colour.
So in the process of deeming fanfiction.net - and then everything else - to be just too damn bright, I've managed to completely re-vamp my computer. Possibly an overreaction. This is going to be a little strange to adjust to...
I like to keep things simple.
NXT OS and a couple of music visualisers are all I need, and I think it works great.
Watching the bars move is almost hypnotic; you can get lost in them for hours.
Amazing. How can I get one like that?
First things first, you need Rainmeter for all the cool stuff, and it's fairly resource intensive to run constantly, so keep that in mind.
Here's links to all the stuff I'm using:
Rainmeter - https://www.rainmeter.net/
Fountain of Colours - http://alatsombath.deviantart.com/art/Fountain-of-Colors-desktop-music-visualizer-518894563
NXT-OS - http://nxtos.com/

Have a play around with it - rainmeter is an incredibly versatile tool, and can do so much more than what I use it for.
My desktop is animated now, so I uploaded a video to YouTube.
Animated Wallpaper = Dreamscene + video clip called Dear Esther.
Clock, Date, Weather, Text Icons and the Visualizer = Rainmeter with skins Serenity and Fountain of Colors.
Song = Dj Schmolli - Bigfoot Prayer In Your Face.
Bit on the boring side but I like plain.
Mine is my work desktop. Fairy Meadows, Pakistan.
I dug it.
I just started playing FTL and I'm loving it so far. When I found two separate FTL rainmeter skins I thought I'd combine them into this one glorious abomination of a desktop you see before you now.
It's pretty cool - the crewmembers are my hard drives and bob up and down while the ship's running. The hull points are my laptop's power, the energy at the bottom left is my RAM usage, and it looks pretty neat overall.
Meanwhile on my desktop...
Finally took a break from spanning wallpapers.
My PC/desk. Normally I keep it a bit cleaner. 28 inch 4k monitor on left, 24.5 inch 1920x1200 on right.
Thanks for showing Rainmeter, it's really fun. I put something together pretty quick:
Separate names with a comma.
