It's not really a fanfiction, so the posting rules in here don't exactly apply.

    Rating? I dunno, I guess T/M

    Summary? Meh, just read it

Well, I finally got around to writing something.

The world of Harry Potter has been getting less and less appealing to me, and so I thought, why not make my own?

So Here is a little prologue to test the waters. Comments are always appreciated, as well as constructive criticism.

    What do you guys think?

Its very good, though I think you should edit it to say at the beginning that it's not Harry Potter - there was a certain amount of confusion at first as I was trying to figure out how it was Harry Potter lol.

But yeah, very good, it leaves you wanting more (which as far as I'm concerned is the aim of any author) and make sure to put a little disclaimer on it labeling it as your intelectual property as you never know if you might want to try to get it published.

Also, fanfiction.net has a sister site, www.fictionpress.com , which is reserved for original fiction, so if you want more feedback I would recommend posting there.

I like it, DGD! This is standard prologue material - it's exciting, and made me wonder about what is going on in the story, without being too confusing. It shows promise, just don't stop in the middle of the story and you should be fine!

~sighs~ The little freshie... all grown up and writing original fiction!

Nice, DGD. It's illusive, in that we currently have no idea what the situation is, who the characters are, or what the "Great Battle" is. I suggesting changing Torgun to a description instead, then introduce him in narration or dialog. Good work, I'm really looking forward to glimpsing more of the universe this story is in.

Looks pretty good so far. Just waiting for the next chapter before I give it my official verdict. If you can do a good battle scene you'll have won it for me.

It seems interesting so far. I'll wait for the next few chapters and decide then if I like it or not. But a huge battle is always good.

Indeed, big battles are always fun, but you should remember to always use your characters in them.

For example, for me, the Battle of Helms Deep was always better than the Battle of the Pelennor Fields (both from LotR) even though the battle of Pelennor was far bigger.

This is because at the battle of Helms Deep you follow your character through the battle, and that makes it far more involving and you have greater emotional ties to it whereas at the battle of Pelennor, although the characters are there, there is a sense of distance from the battle that diminishes it's impact.

Just some thoughts, they could just apply to me, but you never know.
