It's not Harry-centric, and is certainly different from what usually ends up in the For Review. Nevertheless, I found it extremely well written and refreshing, giving an interesting history of a certain magical object.

I give it a 4/5, withholding a full score because of the slightly rushed ending.

Although I prefer Harry-centric fics, this was pretty good, too. I agree that the ending was a bit rushed, but that isn't my biggest gripe with the story. I'd love to know more about the 'creature' they thought was feeding off the blue flowers, or how they trapped it in the mirror. Take half a point for the ending, and half a point for the unresolved aspect...4/5.

4.5/5. Very enjoyable and mysterious, characters managed to draw me in. Overall well worth my time. I would have liked to get some more details, but the story's probably better without them.

This was a pretty good piece. Enjoyable and mysterious, like King pointed out. The characters felt real instead of cardboard cutouts.

Not being Harry-centric did bring the interest factor down a little, but Phineas Nigellus is an interesting character in his own right, or should I say, what Phineas Nigellus can be is the interesting part.

I really liked this story as well. I give the same reasons as DS here. Very enjoyable. 4/5 for me.

I agree with everyone above me. Fantastic little one-shot explaining the origin of one of the most interesting magical artifacts in the HP books.

Phineas Nigellus seems like an interesting character--sort of a mixture of Sirius, Malfoy, and Snape. Are there any other stories out there that focus on his era at Hogwarts?

    5/5

Very dry, Sherlock Holmes tone to this story, but it fits with the style of the character. Give it a 5/5 for engaging non-Harry and including the Mirror of Erised.

An excellent story. This is a prime example that non-Harry Centric stories can be good too. 4.5/5
