Survived my end of (financial) year performance review with a pleasantly positive meeting.

Good thing of my day: My program director pledged our grad lab to a huge NCBI ChIP-Seq database project. I will finally get my name attached to a widely-used bioinformatics database. YAAAAY!!!

Bad thing of my day: My program director pledged our grad lab to a huge NCBI ChIP-Seq database project. I will be doing 3 times the amount of work for the same pay. Yaaaay....

Decided this wasn't challenging enough, so I waited a day before I started this. Submitted with three and a half hours to spare. Nailed it.

@Joe, is that how your last name is pronounced? I am so fucking disappointed.

    Good audio quality though.

Ha. Ducie rhymes with Lucy, is how you say it. So this guy pretty much got it right.

    Neat., Joe.

That reminds me that a nice lady made a podfic of one of my older Dresden fic's a couple of months ago and I never got around to mentioning it here.

TOMW: Spent the past two days implementing the Distance Vector and Learning Switch routing algorithms as a project for my Internet Architecture class. First few runs of the provided tests failed due to misspellings and calling things incorrectly, but it passed all the tests without any substantive edits.

Gonna have to write my own tests to make sure everything is actually covered, but I'm confident in my implementation. It's honestly one of the sweetest feelings.

TOMweek: Led the company I work for through a 5 day combined information security and quality management systems re-certification audit. Re-certification approved pending closing 4 minor issues. All those issues stem from consultants we paid vast sums of money doing stupid things rather than doing the right things, so I'm pretty pleased with the result. Fucking knackered though, most intellectually exhausting week of my career!

TOMweekend: Birthday on sunday, so having friends round tomorrow. Everyone's chipping in some money and I'm putting on a vast quantity of food. I've honestly probably bought enough food that it'd feed twice as many folk as are coming...but no one will go hungry!

I would have amended S2 if it had been. This is me simply bandwagoning on first season awesomeness.

...Kind of? It was a low budget SyFy show. A lot of budget constraints meant a lot of changes. Some were really clever, others.. less so.

TOMD: Project ended up being nearly 100% correct on that first go around. Only had to make one small change to account for an edge case I hadn't thought through the implications of quite fully.

Went out to watch Kingsman 2 to celebrate, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend to anyone that hasn't watched it yet.

The countdown appears to be 384 years? Not looking hopeful yet! My internal timeline of the series being finished when I am in my early to mid-30s appears not to be on track anymore. :/
