    After a fashion.

TOMW: Get out the vote week, wife totaled her car a couple days ago when she hit a deer (she's fine), and today is an election. I'm sitting in my boiler room listening to Kesha. Had a meeting last night where the agenda was literally "we need to unfuck things."

    You know, typical GOTV.

Voted for the first time in my life today. It was okay, I guess? Definitely not as exciting as I'd expect.

The fact that it's routine and kinda boring is one of the nice things, in my opinion. :) Congrats on taking part in the democratic process for the first time!

You're gonna have to wait for 2020.

I'm saving my voting virginity until then.

I dislike the voting centers around where I live. Old fuck people that are nosy. And I hate the people that stand outside the ballot places, preaching and trying to sway you. I go to vote, not to have a fucking lecture about why my party is wrong, and why your party is better.

Then again, I've never liked organized religion either, mostly because of the preachers, so that could be why.

Having moved into a new house about a fortnight ago, I now (finally) have internet.

    It's sitting at under 1Mbps...

Also, tomorrow's my last day at my current job. I don't have a new one lined up, but my car got keyed again, and much worse than last time. I'm hoping me and a few mates can get it primed and painted, but otherwise I'm looking at over £300 for replacement panels, plus labour on top of that. Having heard someone else had their tyres slashed, I decided I could live off savings for a short time, rather than risk having my car destroyed.

Why are they keying your car bro? They like jealous of your position? Or you just live in the ghetto. Also do they not have CCTV on site? I'd be finding out who did it and burn their fucking house down.

There's no on-site parking, so it's in the immediate area.

Now, I always make sure to park legally - facing the flow of traffic, more than 10m from a junction, not over a dropped pavement, and so on. I also make sure to not park like an arse - close to/opposite driveways, etc.

    But other people do.

There's cars that park across the entire pavement, or across driveways, on the corner of a junction. Which really pisses off all the locals, and so some bright spark got it into their head to key every car they could. On multiple days, but seemingly at random.

I could set up a dashcam, but that means I'd have to run being keyed again... Which I don't really want.

To be honest, I disliked the job anyway, this was just the final nail.

Then burn down the entire bloc.
Disclaimer: I don't condone the burning of anything.

    ordoi?

Vote in 2018 if you're eligible; legislative elections matter just as much as the big, shiny executive one.

Our house is currently without heat. It sucks.

It is also radiant floor heating, which my SO and I know very little about, so we have no idea why it is not working. We are still able to get gas, and warm water... it is just not going through the pipes to warm up the house. We finally got someone to come check it out tomorrow, but who knows if they are going to be able to fix it in one day.

Of course this happens when we get the earliest snowfall in about 20-30 years.

ALL I WANT IS WARMTH. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK FOR???

Its probably something at the exchanger, in your mechanical room you have a connection that runs it through the pipes in the floor, the valves are prone to going bad in them depending on how mineral rich your water is, so one of them is probably forced closed.

Snowfall in the Seattle area is nothing. Two inches and the whole fucking area shuts down. It's kind of sad, really.

Did a first round interview for a systems engineer position with a growing cloud focused MSP.

Second one to be scheduled some time in the coming weeks. I think I can get away with wearing my Batman bow tie.

You're probably right, but I'm a political inactivist so I might actually completely forget that it's election day next year.

So work got me a nice, fancy new iPhone 8 with 256 gigs. Only had to pay a grand total of $380 CDN - and I don't have to worry about contracts either!

Pretty stoked right now, especially since I can sell my 6s+ for a good $600-700 or so.

TomD: Had poutine for the first time ever roughly a week and a half ago. It was delicious, but as I was getting it I saw another customer eating something even more impressive... Shawarma Poutine.

I tried it tonight. It was amazing.
