Erandil. Not looking for full conversion mods. Units and a transformation of the map would be fine.

    Erandil.

My apologies if this post comes to you twice, my computer's acting up.

I'm fine with unit and slight map conversion even. Better than nothing at-least.

Using LotR would infrige copyright, if it's on the Workshop and GW is terrified of being sued, since they are guilty of everything except genocide. Non-supported mods could do it too though, and while CA doesn't have the best track record, they got miles better with DLC and such things from Rome 2 and forwards, after being skewered by it.

TWCenter is full of whiny bitches though, who seem to only exist to bitch to CA how they haven' bough a TW Game in ten years and never will, full of their smug superiority. It's really freaking annoying though.

I don't expect much from CA, but they did make amazing games, Shogun 2 was right in all the places, Attilla fixed almost all of R2 problems and so it goes.

And that is pretty much what CA/GW doesn't want to see if it involves any existing IPs. (and what I meant with conversions...)

Which is a real pity, since the LotR mod for Medieval 2 was excellent.

I'm a chump and preordered this. I don't care if it's moddable or not, nor how good the mods are. I've been salivating at the thought of Warhammer mixing with total war since the original Rome Total War, and now that it's happening nothing can quench my hype.

I'm just sad I have to wait for Wood Elves, Beastmen, Bretonnia, Ogres and all the other races till the expansions come out.

Been watching let's play videos today to get my hype levels even higher. Can't wait to bash some of my friends in multiplayer.

Peteks. I feel your pain dude, I feel your pain.

Anyways, regarding the wood elves etc. etc. it is my personal opinion that they are going to release the expansions earlier then original release date, and that's better than nothing.

So, game is out. Thoughts? My PC is in the trash so no WH for me for now...

I believe we will get Bretonnia as the Free DLC and the Wood Elves and Dark Elf/High Elfs expeditions as paid one. Beastmen I don't know if they will go full marauding faction with special rules or keep them as just something to rebels. I really really want Ulthuan for thr next game. I also want to fully exterminate Dark elfs.

Yeah I hope we'll get Bretonnia soon for maximum chivalry.

Anyways, here are my thoughts on the game (I've played 3 hours so far):

-not many races (5 if you pre-ordered, so somewhat disappointing even if we knew it already)

-Great graphics. It looks good and it runs alright on my laptop so anyone with a good rig should be able to enjoy the game visually without trouble.

-Strategy/Tactical wise, I'm ambivalent. It's fun, don't get me wrong -especially the magical abilities of your units-, but the gameplay has been simplified, e.g. there are only 2 army group formations, city management has been stripped down to the basics, etc...

-No gore in a Warhammer game. That's anathema to me.

-Map is huge so I'd wager a full campaign would mean quite a few hours of play, which is a plus imho.

-Quests weren't well thought out, as in early game it's more or less impossible to accomplish them without wasting a lot of time/resources/armies on them.

All in all, it's good. Not great. 3.5/5 if I had to rate it.

I'm enjoying this a ton. There aren't that many races, but enough to be interesting at least in the short term. I also expect the lack of formations to be soon fixed with mods.

The game runs pretty smoothly even with my 4 year old laptop too, which is a plus.

    It's pretty fun.

    The positives:

-Visually very appealing. With a good setup, you'll have no trouble to play it and enjoy the game.

-Huge battle maps. That's a plus side that I fucking love. That means that you could spend an hour on a single battle alone. Damn fun, that.

    The negatives:

-Games a bit too spread out. You spend too much time on trivial things and as such waste a lot resources.

-The way that you can control the army has been reduced.

I'll be giving a full review sometime later.

So apparently, if you subscribe to HumbleBundle for 12$ (one month, can cancel any time), you get this game via steamkey and potentially a few others.

    Worth getting, do you think?

That's how I got it myself and I'd say it's worth the price just for the base game.

It's really fucked up that Chaos Warriors are DLC (preorder before release) though.

Personally I just can't take warhhammer seriously, the characters make me giggle, but a new RTS game is always welcome.

Warhammer Total war is amazing. Everything both franchises should be about. Highly recommended.

To no one's surprise, the new TW game turned out to be Warhammer again.

That Skaven tease makes me giddy with excitement. Skaven and Dark Elves are just what I've been missing.
