Here's what I remember from the beginning: It's post-OotP, and Harry fakes his death. He buys a mimic in Knockturn Alley, which is currently in the form of a cat. The shopkeeper thinks Harry is going to show it a porn mag or something so he can use it as a sex toy. Harry has the mimic transform into himself, and then has it killed in an alley. I'm not sure if he tricked a group of Death Eaters into doing it or if he killed it...

I don't remember much more than that. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, posting the name of the story or a link would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure if this happened in the same fic or not, but I also recall a part where Harry uses a couple of criminals as sacrifices in a dark ritual of some sort...

It's an oldie. I think I came across it three years ago or so.

 

I might be mistaken, but I think something like this happens in Black Ascension by Omni Black I'm not 100% sure, since I've read it ages ago.
