No you wouldn't be. And I avoid those little socialist indocterination centres when I can, I'd rather learn on my own for the sake of learning rather than a diploma that means nothing to me except that I could scrap by the low standards of the system. I like using their libraries though, I use university libraries a lot.

I go to NYU. Its a cool place. If you come in, PM me.

But sadly, no. You won't be international. You are an AMerican abroad. The university just reads that as "American." Sorry. :(

But come anyway, you don't need to be from faraway lands (like Canada) to have fun here! :D

With our imagination, we can be from ANYWHERE!!! :D :D :D ;)

What program are you in? I have an above average[not insane] GPA at the best school in the island and INSANE Recs., E.C.s, SATs, SATIIs.....

Dude, I have a recc. from the Governor General, The President of NCB and Michael Lee Chin....those three are the big ones.....Insane.....My uncle who was High Comish to england from Barbadoes is trying to get the Queen[ HIGHLY unlikely, possibly IMPOSSIBLE but how insane would that be]....alot of Queen's Councils in my family...so with a lot luck....and a lot of links......it just may happen....

Alot of hot girls at NYU?

I'm going to apply to Stern but I'll probably get into GSP....Is there alot of stigma attached to GSP?

    Is GPA> Everything else?

Err...why would it be a sad thing that I wouldn't be ranked as an international?

I was born in Miami but lived in D.C. for a few years which locotion has more African Americans underrepresented at the top? [I want to know so I can use me being black as an Advantage and select that one as my state]

Will me being a minority in fact help me?

Minority MIGHT help. International, I don't know.

    I am in Tisch, (filmmaker)

DUDE, ITS NEW YORK!!! Of COURSE, THERE ARE HOT GIRLS!!

The difference between NYU and COlumbia is NYU is REALLY in the heart of the city. Columbia is more isolated and separated. That's to distinguish.

Slight stigma to GSP, but not so bad. Tisch and Stern are the hardest to get into (Tisch is #1 film school in world, Stern is #4 best Business school in U.S. behind Wharton, Harvard, and Stamford).

GPA is somewhat important, and is what they weigh the highest, but not at the cost of everything else. YOu got a lot of recommendations so you'll probably get in.

Plus, I know a LOT of people who go to GSP and transfer into one of the other schools. Once you're already in NYU, it gets somewhat easier to move around. The only students who can really just transfer into one of the others are Tisch kids and Stern kids (Unless the Stern ones want to go to Tisch, then they need a creative portfolio to show they know what they're doing somewhat.)

    Good LUCK!!! ;)

Minority usually helps, and although you most likely cannot class yourself as international, you CAN (and should) mention on your application that although you were born in the US, you have spent a significant amount of your life living overseas.

Exactly. NYU (like any college) likes to have a diverse community.

    Minorities, foreign student, etc.

If you fall into one of these (or any other group) MENTION IT!!

    Cheers!

Having a good transcript/reccomendation(s) doesn't hurt either... If possible try for an interview, and make sure you write a good essay.

I am going to double major in History and Political Science while attempting to do a double minor as well... The minors will either be Philosophy and English, or Philosophy and Economics.

I haven't made up my mind yet. I am also planning on graduating in 4 years instead of 5, so I will be working my ass off.

    What about you?

    Cool :)

Buisness is an interesting thing to major in, and quite a few of my friends are thinking of majoring in it. It's not for me though... I just don't think I would get that same feeling of fufillment from working as an executive that I could get as a Professor.

But to each his own :)

Dawg, I'm going to do an MBA/JD for my masters MBA in Investment and the JD specialization in constitutional law. My PHD will be in something related to constitutional law.

I plan to become the richest man in the world by thirty, then go into politricks.... I then plan to run for office in another 20 or so years.

The reason I'm doing international business is because I plan to make shipping one of the pillars of my business empire. I pretty much plan to own the mother of all holding companies.

I don't plan to work for anybody period, untill I go into politricks.

Constitutional Law is fun. I just gave my speech on Tuesday night at the National Constitution Center. Basically it focused on the military's use of private data mining corporations to gather for it information on US citizens that it could not gather itself constitutionally. The bigger issue of course is under the 14th amendment, how do we protect the rights guarenteed to the legal fiction known as the 'corporate person' whilst maintaining a society based on civil liberties.

It was an absolute pain in the ass to right because I had to read my way through over 40 Supreme Court cases, in their entirety. And that was the easy part of the research.

All in all my speech went pretty well though. The best part was the Question and Answer section that came after though. One of the judges tried to attack the point I made about the possibility of a warrantless society (at least for information). The whole problem was, when the Pentagon filed their notice about the aforementioned data mining they said that they "reserved the right to share the information that purchased with other governmental agencies."

Ok I really should stop before I type up anymore... But yeah, I am to Socialist to make it in politics on the National Level in this country. Mainly because people in the USA associate Socialism with Facism/Communism Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin style; instead of 1870's-1914 UK style where Socialist leaning politicians reformed much of what was wrong with the country.

Goodluck taking over the world... As long as you give me control of Tuscany I wont oppose you.

I was recently told that my GPA would matter less to universities because of my schooling abroad[and the grades of my school in correlation to American schools and the sylabus] and my acceptance would be dependent primarily on other criteria. How true is this?

It is a strong possibility, however admissions policies vary from school to school.

Some schools place a VERY strong emphasis on your GPA and test scores, others place that emphasis on your essay and interview.

Or any number of other combinations.

I am not sure what the NYU admissions policy is as I never considered the school.

My region is wierd...they take the CAPE[Caribbean equivalent of Brittish A levels only difference is that 20% of the score is weighted on work during the school year] scores and do something with them to give you a GPA, they don't use the term grades apparently...it's strange.
