Reinstalled the Oct 08 version, I gotta say, it's working smoothly, not hogging as much memory as before, and seems much more usable...

However in order to make it usable to me I still had to do a ton of different little tweaks, and I'm fighting trying to get around the digital device signing bullshit they put in the 64 bit version.

Better Windows. Not there yet, but getting better.

Adding on. I've got 45 seconds to useable desktop time now, not bad with the crap I loaded on, only 2 gb of RAM, and a 2gb flashdrive for readyboost.

I'm using the 64 bit version, and did find an easy way to disable the device signing using an app called Readydriver plus. Spend a few months on a bad XP SP 3 installation, and Vista can seem awesome. I'll start loading games to it next, hopefully it won't fuck up Fallout.

Question, because you seem to have more experience with Vistcrap than I do (all of about two hours, woo!): are you limited in the number of ReadyBoost devices you can use? And size of them as well?

USB sticks are cheaper than RAM. :p

How's the boot time without readyboost?

1 Flash drive, 4gb max size.

Readyboost doesnt improve a whole huge ton unless you're using a bare minimum RAM set up 512mb- 1gb or so for Vista. Then it combined with Superfetch make a giant difference supposedly. For the 2gb and over it basically does nothing for start up time, but helps load programs faster and smoother.
