In all seriousness though, no, as has been discussed before, while this fic is good (at least imo) it definitely has issues.

 

I mean this seriously: if I were to name the best HP fanfic, my first (not sure if only) candidate would be Prince of the Dark Kingdom. No joke. Really.

 

There will never be a definitive answer to this, what with the idea of 'best' being completely subjective to personal tastes.

That said ...

I totally second Cauterize.

Jbern's TLIL, TML and TFtCD are basically at the top of their genre thanks to competent writing, decent plotting and good action scenes.

Joe owns the epic-adventure genre.

Taure, if he would just fucking finish a fic, would achieve godlike status ... and yes, I do totally hate him for not finishing The One He Feared.

Seriously though, there are dozens of great fanfics, hundreds (maybe thousands) of good-average fanfics and tens of thousands of bad ones and that's just in English.

Honestly? Best writing comes from the Alexandra Quick series.

Still, gotta say, my favorite is the Denarian Renegade.

 

My personal favorite is probably "Harry Potter and the Boy who Lived", "Forging the sword" or the "Denarian Renegade".
If we are talking about the best writing style in a Fanfic then I would have too pick the "Alexandra Quick series".

 

From memory, I think it would be Denarian Knight. Yeah, everyone always seems to say Renegade is the best, but Knight just edges ahead of it I think.

 

I wouldn't say there is a best fanfic. For me there is the best fanfics, there are some very good fics there and they excell in different things and depending on the person you might end up liking one over another while another individual might feel the opposite.

 

Alianza by Helena Dax. The fic is so good it is even being translated to English as it was originally written in Spanish.
