Looks like Blizzard has finally bitten the bullet and there will now be official vanilla wow servers.

So a person in charge of WoW once said "You think you want classic servers, but you don't."

And they that person announce classic servers coming back. Brutal.

(I don't think classic servers will really be that amazingly popular. They'll have a base, but I think nostalgia is a bit strong here.)

I've played on a lot of private Vanilla servers, and enjoyed it every time. I'm super excited to have offical ones now, hopefully without all the bugs that plague private servers.

Might actually play this... I wonder what new tech they are keeping though.

Classic servers will get insane numbers for like 3 months and then they'll die down big time, they'll probably get released during a long content drought or something during the next expansion.

Speaking of which... yeah. Hella pumped. That cinematic was awesome. I ended up getting a virtual ticket and the demo stuff they show makes me very excited for the full expansion.

Played WoW for a year before any addons were released and then a bit on private vanilla servers a few times but have always been a fan of a few of the characters and the lore and I am still somewhat invested in the setting.

And I have to say, blizzard still makes fucking awesome trailers. When Sylvanas roared "for the horde", I actually felt something xD

Hope there will be good stuff with her. Not going to play the game again but am curious to see how her story will go further.

Wow. Totally had the opposite reaction...

The cinematic was cool, but when they announced it's basically Alliance vs Horde again, I groaned. Shit's getting old.

And if Jaina is a raid boss rather than just a complicated character, I'll just fully check out.

Finally, cinematic/realistic Sylv is... Not so hot. Bring back cartoon Sylv plz.

Tbf, the idea of a shadow priest void elf is kinda cool.

In regards to classic servers as long as they limit the amount of servers it should be a hit. If there is a limited amount and they are actually populated I might be interested, but if they over saturate the amount of servers and they are relatively empty population wise then meh, I'll pass.

I get massive nostalgia when I think of old school xroad/astranaar world pvp. Not saying that would happen even with these classic servers, but good times good times.

I am really hyped for this theme. I feel that the themes were getting too big and sci-fi-ish and I love the classic Alliance vs Horde.

Right now Jaina being a Raid boss is super unlikely and Sylvanas be Garrosh 2.0 is more likely because of the new book "Before the Storm".

When it comes to Vanilla servers most people playing retail will probably treat it as a fad. However there is a significant segment of people that solely or mainly plays on private Vanilla(and bc etc) servers. These players will probably make out the core players of these servers. It seems blizzard has calculated enough revenue from these people to develop the classic servers.

As for the new expansion, don't give a crap about lore or theme as long as the raiding is interesting and the grind is less than Legion has been. Cinematic was pretty bamf though, I was bored with cartoon style.

That was my reaction to the cinematic, really. I'm so over the faction conflict, and it's not helped that Sylvanas is, in my mind, easily the worst faction leader in the history of the game, including both Garrosh and Dreadlord Jaina. Her popularity is both baffling and overwhelmingly excessive, and I can't wait until she fucks off and dies already so Baine can take over and the Horde can be great again.

That said, I am tentatively interested in Battle for Azeroth. Not for the pvp, god no, but I've always been a huge nerd for the troll shit and being able to be a Zandalari is the shit. Plus, I like the fact that they've removed random legendary drops, and the new artifact armor stuff looks pretty neat, with the best aspects of the artifact weapons without the eternal grind elements that killed it. I'm not a huge fan that titanforging will still be a thing, but it's not enough to kill my interest in the new expac. I'm probably gonna at least try it out as a casual scrub; we'll see if it gets me back into raiding.

    Edit:
And as for Vanilla servers, how those go will really depend on what they're like. If it's a straight Vanilla port, then I expect it to find a very small niche of hardcore retards that flock to it, while everyone else quits within a week. But I expect they'll do basically Vanilla, but with the quality-of-life improvements they developed over the years, like the group finder, dungeon queues, integrated addons, etc. And if they do, it will go pretty strong I think.

Everything you've said is invalidated by hating Sylvie [emoji14]

For real though, the Azshara/Naga stuff could be interesting. Esp since I bet my balls N'zoth is involved.

Sylvanas is a zombie hag that needs to remember she's dead already!

The Naga raid sounds pretty sweet, not gonna lie. I'm definitely interested in that. Part of me hopes that there's at least one underwater boss fight, just because that'd be fun.

Your opinion on Sylvanas is both wrong and invalidated by your opinion on Garrosh.
    #Garroshdidnothingwrong

Couldn't be more hyped for playable Zandalari though.

@Agayek, your opinion on Sylvanas is both worrying and sad. And super wrong and it made me lose all respect for you.

ALSO I HOPE YOU WILL BE STUCK FOREVER IN WAITING QUEUES!

There isn´t one. I would say it will not compete will Bta launch and probably be released during a content drought. 2019 is a safe date.

BfA is 6 months out. Right now there is a content drought. I think it will launch in the next 3-5 moths. Get people booked on Warcrack again, they get tired of slow Vanilla gameplay->Expac releases and they move onto that.

Very unlikely. Firstly there is no content draught right now. Chiefly, they were very clear that it's very early in development and it will take time before it's ready.

What content drought? Antoras will be released in three weeks. Blizzard said that Classic will take a "while" so don't expect it in a few months.
