    Sorry for the double-post, but it felt reasonable this time. Ended up using the laptop disc anyway, but it's all good. Reformat seems to have been a success so far, all that's left is to grab an antivirus. Any recommendations? Avira works well enough, but I'm sure there's better. Again, thanks for the help! I probably would have resorted to human sacrifice and exorcism by now if it weren't for you guys.

    At this rate it'll be six hours before everything is compressed :awesome I'm going to have to plug up my laptop so I can store all of this (my brother had a couple hundred pictures from his camera he wanted me to grab, as well as all of the music, even though he has the CDs).     It's all good, I did mention my brother's PC, but it currently has some crazy-ass virus issues of it's own. The PC I'm on right now is a custom built PC made in 2004 that uses an Asus P4P800-VM series motherboard.     The only problem with that is that I don't have another computer I can use. I'm going to be at the library tomorrow, so I'll be able to change all my passwords and stuff, but I don't have a car, so I can't just go back to the library and ask if something goes wrong. After I start this, I'm going to be completely in the dark aside from my brother's input and whatever I can print out ahead of time.

    Alright, thanks. I'll give that a shot, though actually doing it will probably have to wait a couple days. I'm unfamiliar with how safe mode works, for the most part, so I should probably ask: Do I need to have the installer for all of these programs on a USB drive, or can I get them from the site while in safe mode?

    No good, I already sacrificed him to gain the blessing of Cthulu :facepalm EDIT: Used Malwarebytes and got rid of a shit load of stuff the others didn't find, including two of the hidden items. Then half way through a second scan (I always scan twice to be on the safe side) Avira caught something messing with me called TR/Trash something or other.     The only options I'm given are 'End' which just closes the window, and 'Report' which gives me a text file account of all the shit it did. Report gave me the locations of all the hidden files, so I suppose I could try and fix it that way, except that a couple of them were in system 32 (don't know enough to like messing with that one) and another couple were in Hkeys.     I wish I could, but I don't have the system disc anymore. I moved, and it was one of the things that vanished. I'm going to be able to get a new PC in June, but until then this is all I got. The PC I had been using got hit with a nasty virus I haven't even been able to touch yet, nothing I use in safe mode can find it and logging in normally I have ten seconds before it locks me out of everything and starts fucking around with directory files.
