    Jack got stuck in a Grey Boy loop, so he's good as dead With Scion: The shapeshifters made him so depressed he didn't care about living anymore, so he would stop dodging. Foil shot him; where her bolts landed, it made holes into the dimension where his real body was. Defiant then took the BFG and fired at Scion, and the blast went through the holes and eliminated the real body.

    Pact and Face play to Wildbow's strength in characterization. Peer and Boil moreso in worldbuilding. The thing is, although I absolutely adore great worldbuilding, it's the characters that keep me reading and I think that's what Wildbow is best at. Characterization is the way you prepare a dish; a great chef can make a gourmets meal out of anything and I feel that giving Wildbow the kitchen in which to work with the more character based piece is more important than an exotic piece of meat...

    It's a lot more interesting than Peer to start with at least. This is Wildbow stepping outside his comfort zone. He's trying to use his writing style (moderate stream of conscious, narrative heavy) to muck around with different tones and themes.     The narration was a lot stronger than the interaction, but that comes down very much to Wildbow's strengths. When he's got a monologue, mental or verbal it's a joy to read, but the dialog didn't really drag me in.

    Just... goddamn. A great ending; she committed the greatest crime against humanity in history... but in doing so stopped a greater one from occurring. She choose to keep control of herself in the end. Easily one of my favorite works of fiction, I just hope that the whole timeskip arc gets really cleaned up if Wildbow gets this published

    If this had been an actual comic, we'd be complaining about editorial mandates and forced crossovers ruining a good run. As is, the biggest issue was an absolutely pisspoor transition. At it's heart, Worm is a street level story. Brockton Bay is the backdrop and Taylor's dealing with problems at home.     I think the problem is that Worm for the longest time, was street level with the occasional event. That was the absolute best of the tale, but right now it feels like all of the incredible world building and characters are kind of shoved aside in a constant big crossover event.

    On the action parts; they're definitely Wildbow's weakest sections. He's incredible for the most part at character interactions and drama, but much of the action makes me want to go back to where people were talking, plotting, or musing. The whole end of the world arc is also weaker than any other arc but for Echida as well; it just doesn't flow as well due to the timeskips and how out of it Taylor feels

    So the Passengers are reality devouring viruses and this is the time where the cycle was cut short. Frankly, the Endbringers seem to be working to kill off the sentient beings rather than just the Shardholders; they're trying to starve out the Passengers. So perhaps they're a remnant of Passenger-3 that was left behind to kill Passenger 1&2 or even the white blood cell style response of this reality?

    I'm just waiting for it to bite her in the ass in that she ends up not knowing the best option for once. One thing that the story has done well to establish is that Taylor's Thinker rating is well earned; she's got incredible multitasking and lateral thinking abilities, but it leads to her always thinking that she knows best. I don't want to say it's a lack of empathy, but almost an inherent disrespect for authority. Call it a combination of a lack of trust in anyone above her in the power...

    Cauldron does have a way of altering the level of power that a cape receives, we saw that in Battery's interlude. Even then you've got the most powerful precog in Dinah, very solid A rankers in Taylor and Vista, and hell, just look at Echidna. There's also Bonesaw and Panecea to think of. So no, while outside of Echidna there isn't a Superman class that I can think of off the top of my head there are plenty of heavy hitters.

    There's some foreshadowing, but what's almost a sudden Bond Villain? Teleporting Manservant? It's somewhat of a genre shift. That said, of the last two times I was worried about a story segments (Skitter turning herself in and the Weaver change) one ended up being awesome and one has worked out fine so far, so I have faith. Only thing I really don't think has worked since Echidna was the Cody chapter which I feel was pretty garbage and should get the same treatment the Vista chapter got.

    Couple notes: Contessa's power probably just doesn't work on Endbringers or has a very narrow margin of "victory." We've seen them be beat, we know "Hold them off until Scion arrives" is a victory condition (and thus any plan that allows the capes to delay an Endbringer works) so Mrs. Midnighter here either isn't telling the whole truth in regards to her power or it's just not being explained well. Got a distinct Invincible/The Boys vibe from Alexandria being back though, interested to see...

    The other big issue is that the Yangban are all about UNIT tactics; there's no way after practicing in a group for so long he's able to take all 3 out with ease. I get if you want to cripple the leadership during the fight, but this may have been the absolute worst way of going about it other than their lunch giving everyone the runs.

    The characters weren't very compelling and there was characterization issues compared to how they'd been portrayed before. That and the whole "woe is me" stuff that came out of the Echidna gal whose name escapes me in the second arc really started to grate.

    I almost think that it's purposeful. I didn't really like the Traveler's or Echidna arcs either, but I think part of that is that Wildbow is amazing at writing people but not quite as good at fight or action scenes, coupled with some characterization mishaps. We're getting a view from the side of the PRT, and seeing why it's not working while getting of feel of everything falling apart. I'm just waiting for Taylor to make her own cape governing organization, with blackjack and hookers!

    I think one of the other big reasons that Taylor don't get no respect is that she's still "bug girl." Really, if you asked your average layman about "person with bug control" they'd probably think them to be weak and in Taylor's case, propped up by teammates and a strong sense of leadership. You don't immediately go to "S rank threat if she had some sort of defense against long range bombardment" which she frankly is.

    I don't disagree at all; I tend to try and keep criticism towards what we've actually seen, as my magic 8 ball tends to roll better on the table than as a fortune telling device. We simply don't know what's actually gonna happen, although I think the idea of putting Taylor on the Wards instead of on a full on team is fairly silly, but we'll see how it plays out

    Yeah, offensively speaking Taylor's pretty much up there with the S ranks in terms of sheer damage she could cause. She just doesn't have the same defenses as Nibhogg for instance to be ranked that high. She's gonna get close to all knowing in her bugzone once she gets the whole hearing-through-insects thing down however.

    While I have faith it's going to be a great ride, Wildbow has slipped up; the Traverler's and Echidna arcs were pretty mediocre and there was some characterization slippage. We haven't seen the full fallout of this arc yet though, and I'd really like to get inside the Undersiders' heads. I do think the Charlotte/Danny interlude first was a good idea though

    My problem with Danny is that he doesn't really understand any sort of loyalty to family, which really rubs me raw as it is the exact opposite of the way I was raised.     I'm not really talking about the Undersiders, I'm talking about the overall goal of getting hero and villain to sit down and work together to stop the world from ending. You've just thrown away a lot of your cred in the villain community, especially when your killing of Alexandria is outted as being an inside job.     I'm not sure I really like the idea of Skitter changing her name; she'd be so much more effective almost as a liaison between the PRT and villains, someone who understands there's much more at play here. Going from Skitter to Weaver feels like it's spitting in the face of her former allies or people who thought she was on "their side"
