    Liberal use of veritaserum. I mean, there is a reason giving to someone something that makes them tell the truth to whatever they ask you is illegal or heavily controlled. I assume that at some point authorities abused this and now not only do you need exceptional circumstances for it to be used but what can be asked is very regulated. Yet in some fics it is used to convince people in normal dealings.

    That and the fact that wizards can see things that muggles can't and hide all magical things from them. Since muggles have no idea of things that wizards consider basic, it stands to reason that wizards think muggles have little idea of how the world works. So someone from a muggle background comes to the wizardly world with a lot of preconceptions that are based on things that are lies or from believing certain things are impossible.     For that matter, comments that start as "I could totally see..." followed by something that follows rule of cool rather than what is logical or what the character's personality would dictate. That and "bragging" omakes. If a character is cool, it usually is because they don't feel the need to tell everyone how cool they are or just name drop things they did (often exaggerated). That just make them look petty or arrogant (more than usual)

What I said was that Dumbledore did not only what he thought was best for the wizardly world but what he thought was best for Harry and that Harry could see that.     I disagree with your interpretation of Dumbledore. I think he wants to believe the best out of people. He said himself, as you said, that he knew Harry wouldn't be "happy" with the Dursleys. He also said that they treated him worse than he expected when he comes looking for him in the sixth book.     Pet peeve: Veelas fall in love with people who can resist their attraction magic and are often encouraged by their family to do so.     For the worm fandom, the entity visions when someone triggers. I can somewhat tolerate the overuse of the locker scene since they might want to show both what happens immediately afterwards and her mentality at the time to say it is different because of that. But I have gotten to the point where I stop reading as soon as I spot that since a mild moment of disorientation should be enough to imply the trigger if there is really a need to show it (which there often isn't).

    Let's be fair with Ron here. He had two mayor arguments with Harry in seven years. Considering how both of them are when angry and how stubborn they can be, that is an achievement. In GoF Ron had no understanding of how dangerous the competition is and from his perspective there was only glory there (after all, they made it safer and Dumbledore knows his stuff. He missed the fact that that also included the age restriction). So he can't see why someone would put someone else to compete...

    Seems like an asshole thing to do but it is expected that they prioritize their loved ones. What is annoying is when nobody calls them on it. One would think there would be someone who resented them for that.

    You must be Frieza. When the author seems to have a checklist of things that must be in the story because it happens on every fanfiction, even if it doesn't really contribute to the story. And harem for the sake of harem. If it doesn't add drama, humor, context or plot, don't use it. There should be a harry potter fic with an harem a la school days.

    More than the fact that they define a character as a prankster, I find irritating that they refer everything related to them in joke terms. Like when they call a plot against an enemy or a deception a prank. Usually, everything related to the dark lord becomes "The greatest prank ever". It's pretty much the same as using chess references for Ron.

    Yeah, I can see how that would be annoying. Unless everyone did it and the author made all but one character exaggerate about their abilities for a comic effect but by how you are saying it I gather that is not the case.

    There is a time and place to gloat about your skill set but it should be once you trapped the opponent with it and he is one second away from dying. And it should be something you worked for, so at least you have a reason to want others to know or something so utterly unfair (and false, because you should always lie when bragging like this) that the fame and fear outweighs the tactical disadvantage.     Stories in which the tittle is in a different language than the content. Not when it is a translation of another story, I can understand those cases. I am talking about people who think it is cooler to have the tittle that way. And not only does it happen on fanfiction but in videos in which you don't even have a summary to see that it is, in fact, in another language than the one the tittle suggests.

    If what I am reading is fanfiction then I am the same. I think that the problem is that people write them because they feel the pairing should have happened in canon so they want to focus on that but when they do so they lose all the canon elements that made them think of the pairing. It doesn't really help that the alternatives are either harem or banging the character the author would like to do.

    Probably said before. When in the canon series two characters have a platonic love or a partnership/friendship with a little more feelings in the mix and fanfiction authors interpret it as that they should fuck their brains out every two scenes. I don't care if they don't show that much or their private lives in the series, if they don't do casual displays of affection in it, they won't speak of lovers and eternal love in the bed. It is simply out of character.
